What is EmpowerU?• More than an exercise program• Pre and Post testing• Fitness assessment run by trained professionals • Take home report of fitness assessment results• One‐on‐One interview with Wellness Director to review fitness assessment results
• Recommendations on fitness plan• 12 Nutrition seminars led by Registered Dietitian • Reassessment after 12 weeks to document progress
Results and Transition to Enriched Housing
• First 12 week Program in ILU was big success
• All participants experience improved scores in balance, strength, mobility and cardio‐vascular endurance.
• Began to develop modified program for Enriched Housing

• Increased Arm Curls by 8
• Increase in the 2 Minute Step Test by 10 steps
• Increased flexibility by 4 inches, can now touch her toes

Future of The Wellness Program at The Glen
• Increase Independent and Assisted Living class sizes by holding healthy luncheons, exercise and cooking demos and special wellness events
• 20 minute workout classes for staff to get them more involved in the wellness initiative
• Farmers Market on site every Thursday • Basketball hoops to encourage more team, healthy initiatives for the staff
• Include and encourage staff to participate in monthly Nutrition Lectures
