The city of Gurgaon boasts of a over a million inhabitants, glossy professional office complexes housing companies like Bharti to Deloitte. Shopping malls are the highlight of the city with more malls per square mile than anywhere else in the country making it an exhilarating experience every time one visits the city.
“India of my dreams may seem idealistic to some, but it is a reality that I, and others who love this nation, will make happen”, these beautiful words of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru ring through, when one experiences the development of the city of Gurgaon. It enkindles hope in the progression of our country and their nascent future that lies ahead.
Gurgaon being the second largest city in the Indian state of Haryana has emerged as the industrial and financial center of Haryana. It is located 30 km south of national capital New Delhi. One of Delhi's four major satellite cities and part of the National Capital Region,. Gurgaon has the 3rd highest per capita income in India after Chandigarh and Mumbai. It ranks 11th amongst Indian cities on the "Life after Work" index of Business Today.
Popularly known as the Home of the Guru, Gurgaon got its name from a mythological origin. However rapid change and development in the past 25 years has seen the city emerge as a “City of Lights”. Cruising down the freeway after crossing the toll bridge at night welcomes you to the glitz and glamour of the place. The interest of renowned builders like Ireo, DLF, Emaar MGF, Unitech and other 2nd tier builders changed the layout of the entire city. The development of Luxury Villas, Condominiums, Pent houses, Service Apartments created a buzz in the realty sector. Pinnacle, Central park, Nirvana County, Laburnum and Aralias to name a few, attracted a lot of investment and led to the hype.
CLIMATE
Gurgaon’s climate is almost the same as Delhi NCR with cold, foggy winters, wet sub-tropical monsoons and warm summers. Summers last from mid-March to mid-June, Monsoon from mid-June to mid-September while Winters sets in by mid-November and goes on till mid-March. May is the hottest month with temperatures soaring to almost 42 degrees centigrade and a minimum temperature of 25 degrees centigrade. The mean maximum and minimum temperatures for Winters lies at 21 and 3 degrees respectively with January as the coldest month of the year.
Industrial Hub: The city of Gurgaon is home to a large number of companies such as Bharti, Pepsi,
Bain & Company India Private Limited, Nestle, Coca Cola, Deloitte, Google, McKinsey
and the like. The city slowly developed into a Corporate and industrial Hub which led
to movement and settlement of expatriates and corporate community. Prominent
telecom companies are headquartered here like Bharti Airtel, Nokia, Motorola, Alcatel
Lucent & Ericsson. Automobile manufacturing, garment manufacturing, world-class
real estate and shopping malls are the other main industries. In 2005, GECIS became
an independent company - Genpact, which is now headquartered in Gurgaon. This
trend continued after several other firms established themselves in the city. Gurgaon
also has a major manufacturing industry. Car manufacturing facilities include India's
largest passenger car company, Maruti Suzuki. Hero Honda, the world's biggest motor
cycle company is based in Gurgaon.
CONNECTIVITY
With Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport just across the border, the city is well connected which adds to its popularity. With the Airport Metro coming into the picture, it will take commuters only 30 minutes to reach Gurgaon from the Airport. Further, the Delhi Metro runs from 6AM in the morning to 11PM in the night allowing commuters to travel from Gurgaon to Delhi/NCR in the least time! The city has 10 metro stations as of now and to add to easy travel within the city, the Rapid Metro Rail Gurgaon will bring with it connectivity not only to Delhi/NCR but also within Gurgaon. The latter will allow commuters to travel between 5 AM-12AM with a fare of Rs. 12 for the entire line using the same Delhi Metro token or smart card (if any).
The city is spread out between old and new Gurgaon, the wide expansion made connectivity with the capital a major concern.
The city is a half an hour drive from the domestic and international airport and is connected with a very efficient service of radio cabs. The City also has a bus stand with efficient luxury buses to most cities and trains that run to and fro.

Weekend Getaways: Some of the important cities closely connected to Gurgaon are Noida, Ghaziabad, New Delhi, Manesar, Sohna, Jaipur, Agra - all within 300 kilometers of each other.
Agra - known for possessing one of the Seven Wonders of the World, The Taj Mahal, is perhaps the most popular tourist destination in India. With history and architecture all over the city, Agra is perfectly situated at the banks of the river Yamuna. The city has three UNESCO World Heritage Sites- Taj Mahal, Fatehpur Sikri and Agra Fort, truly making it the hub of Mughal art, culture and architecture.
Jim Corbett - is the first national park of India and was selected as one of the nine tiger reserves. It is considered to be India’s most picturesque and well-known National Parks.
Haridwar - is also known as ‘Gateway to Gods’ or Gangadwar. The holy city is situated perfectly on the banks of the river Ganga which was said to have brought by King Bhagirath to provide salvation to his ancestors.
Jaipur - the Pink City, which was once the capital of royalty and the first planned city is now swarmed by visitors every year who are left awestruck by the history that the Rajputs and the Royal family have. Hawa Mahal, City Palace and Amber Fort are the architectural attractions while the Elephant festivals, Kite festivals and the famous ‘Chokar Dhani’ depict the reservoir of Indian customs, traditions and legacy.
EDUCATION
The city has the best international and national schools, all located in close proximity to each other. Most of them are concepts schools and are preferred by the new age parent that wants the child to relate to concepts rather than cram and learn.
