International Gateway Kelowna (IGK) is an English as a SecondLanguage (ESL) institute located in Kelowna, Canada.

Established in 2002, IGK is Kelowna's original and mosttrusted school and is proudly Canadian owned and operated.

Cambridge Exam PreparationCambridge certificate programs begin on select dates in January, March, April,June, delete July, September and October for 7 to 12 weeks. Cambridge exams arethe world's most popular certificates for learners of English. Each year they aretaken by over 1.5 million people, in 135 countries. The certificates can be used togain entrance to a university or college, improve job prospects, satisfy immigrationrequirements and measure progress in English.International Gateway Kelowna is an official Cambridge testing venue.

English + Hot Yoga Starting weekly year round for 1 or more weeks.

Senior Program for Ages 50+ Starting weekly from September to May for 1 or 2 weeks.

ESL Action Camps The listed below combine Practical English as a Second Language (ESL) with a variety of cultural, recreational and leisure pursuitsfor all ages and levels. The programs with a are integrated with Canadians to maximize language learning, team buildingand cultural exchanges. Full or part time Practical ESL can be added before and after each action camp for a diversified learningexperience. Programs are open to both individuals and groups.

Internship Program This program is designed for students who wouldlike to gain work or volunteer experience in aCanadian company or organization. The placementis unpaid and must be combined with an equal orgreater amount of full time study at IGK prior to theplacement. Placements are available in a variety offields such as: Recreation, Community Organizations,Education, Sports, Tourism, Sales and Entertainment.Internship and Volunteer Placements begin weeklyfor ages 16 and up.Program Length - 2, 4, 8 or 12 weeksAll levels

Working Holiday ProgramA variety of tourism, hospitality, agriculture,construction and service industry jobs are inconstant demand in Kelowna.

Please contact the Canadian Embassy inyour home country to see if you qualify fora visa for this program. IGK provides workingholiday students complimentary job placement and vehicle purchase assistance. Conditions apply.

Farm Stay ProgramStudents are placed on a ranch or a farm for 1 to 6 weeks to experi-ence Canada's Western lifestyle. Farmstay participants are provided asingle room, shared bath, 3 meals per day, activities and horseback riding. This program is available year round for ages 19+ and must betaken in conjunction with a Practical ESL/Homestay program at IGK priorto the placement. IGK can also arrange 2 to 3 day guest ranch stays forindividuals, couples and families.All levels

Family ESL and Holiday ProgramLearn English and have a family holiday at the same time inCanada's premier resort destination! Adults, teens and younglearners take English classes in the morning either in separateclasses or together as a family group. In the afternoon teens andjuniors can join the scheduled activity program while adults continue with English classes or have free time to explore the city.Welcome packs include maps and sightseeing information withsuggestions for afternoon and weekend trips. This program beginsweekly from June to August for ages 8 and up and weekly yearround for ages 12 and up. Accommodation options includehomestay, motel and resort condo.All levels

Bartending CertificationThis comprehensive day or evening coursetrains students to be bartenders. All of thetraining is 'hands on' and is done behind a realworking bar. Bartending certification providesa job ready skill for students to use both at home and abroad. YOUNGER LEARNERSSummer Vacation Program for Ages 8-18Our most popular summer program combines morning Englishclasses with dynamic afternoon recreational, cultural andadventure activities. This 1, 2, 3 or 4 week program beginsweekly in June, July and August.

English + High School Experience for Ages 12-18Features morning English classes at IGK and afternoon classes inPhysical Education, Drama, Music and Art at a local high school.Starting weekly in September, October, November, December,January, February, March, April and May for 1, 2, 3 or 4 weeks.

English + Ice Hockey Skills Camp for Ages 8 -17Open to all levels of ice hockey players. Starting on select dates in July and August for 1, 2 or 3 weeks.

HomestayLiving with a Canadian family is one of the best ways for students to practice their English skills while at the same timelearning about Canadian culture and lifestyle. IGK host familiesare regularly screened, monitored and inspected for their ability to provide a safe, clean, caring and friendly living environment. Moreover, IGK host families go through an intensive interview process and police check prior to hostingstudents. IGK homestay families have a strong interest in welcoming international visitors into their homes and believe thathosting a student is an enriching and rewarding experience forboth the family and the student. IGK's Homestay Coordinator customizes each placement with regards to special needs,requests, diet, hobbies, personalities and family dynamics.

Homestay FeaturesSingle Room, Shared Bath and 3 meals per day. All homestaystudents receive a private room with a bed, bedding, towels,desk and study area and have access to laundry, internet, telephone and television.

Medical Insurance - All students must have valid medicalinsurance during their entire stay in Canada. Please contactIGK staff if you require medical insurance.
