History of the town

Settlement of Kyzyl-Kiya was formed in 1898, in 1938, the settlement was given the status of city. A hundred years ago, the French employers FOSS and SCHOTT organized here industrial coal mining. Kyzyl-Kiya was one of the first cities of Kyrgyzstan which supported the Soviet power (1917)

The city is located in the Batken region. Kyzyl-Kiya has a railway that connected with Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and further - with Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Russia.

The city is home to different ethnic groups. Here live Kyrgyz, Uzbeks, Tajiks, Russian and other nationalities.

Torobay KulatovStatesman of the Soviet era.From 1925, he worked on the construction of the railway Kuvasay Kyzyl-Kiya. Then worked as cullers in the mines.
