TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN MATH
A student should:• Complete homework everyday. This
means: – copy down the problem– show all the work – check the answers of odd numbered problems
in back of book and correct if necessary– Check answers in class and correct
• Ask questions in class• Review the concepts every day for 5
minutes• Review for tests by doing extra problems• On tests, follow the directions carefully.
HOMEWORK POLICY:• Homework is given every day, rain
or shine, even on Fridays. • No late work is accepted unless
the students was absent. If turned in late will get credit for effort grade
• The student is responsible for making up any work assigned during an absence from class.
• It is important that the student keeps up with the homework since math knowledge is cumulative
CLASS ROUTINE
• Students bring to class several pencils, spiral notebook, and workbook
• Homework is checked and students check answers for correctness. No credit is given if don’t write down problem, show work
• Go over a number of homework problems• Teacher goes over the next assignment. • Students try a number of practice
problems for understanding.
STUDYING FOR TESTS• There are usually two tests per chapter;
mid-chapter and final• There are also several smaller quizzes
during the chapter to check on progress• Doing just the homework will not
guarantee success on tests. Before a test the students should review by looking in the book and reviewing each section and know how to do the sample problems
• There are no test corrections for extra points, except for the smaller quizzes.

WHEN WILL WE EVER USE THIS?
Keep up a high self-esteem,
always choose the right friends,
but try to notice as soon as possible if someone is
tricking you,
never stop being inquisitive,
relax,
think about the past sometimes,
take care of yourself when necessary…
… and if nothing else helps, act stupid!
WITH THANKS TO ALLISON WILLIAMS!
PARENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Students are well fed and well rested.• Encourage your child to study and do all
assignments. • Persuade your child to follow all class rules
and to use appropriate discipline if your child misbehaves.
• Keep all lines of communication open with your child. Know what’s going on your child’s life.
• Don’t Panic. This phase of your child’s life shall soon pass. (We hope)
STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Attend class daily in an attitude of learning • Respect others’ right to learn by observing the
class rules. Should not talk or get out of seat without permission, throw things, exhibit a defiant attitude, or ridicule or bother other students.
• Come prepared with notebook, materials, and assignments every day. Copy all assignments into student Assignment Notebook.
• If absent, must make up missing assignments. • Achieve the best possible grade - seek help
when difficulty arises.
TEACHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Show respect to all students. • Develop self-discipline and love of
learning within the students.• Challenge students to reach beyond
what they believe they can achieve.• Somehow get the students through the
difficult years of adolescence without too much suffering (on my part, as well)
