Visual & Performing Arts In addition to the established art, drama, and dance programs,
the music program is gaining momentum. This year the middle school choir will put on a Christmas and spring show.
Dance and art will work together as they did last year to showcase their talents in a March 2013 show.
Last year’s Drama Conservatory had the distinction of winning back-to-back awards at the state level—four of last year’s seniors are currently majoring in theatre arts at respected universities.
Visual & Performing Arts Outreach Program
This year’s senior VPA students will have the opportunity to travel off-campus during the last period of the day to visit feeder schools. They will be writing original monologues in the voices of their Armenian ancestors—telling stories of the Genocide, the Diaspora, and attempts to integrate into American society without losing their unique voices. Portraits of the ancestors will be created by student artists as well as original choreographed dances to complement this project.
Senior Research Project in Contemporary Armenian Issues
Seniors are required to select and explore a current socioeconomic, political, educational, or health issue that affects the population living in the Homeland. Students will be involved in guided research throughout the year with the goal of putting together a proposed solution in the form of a presentation for the general public.
