Beginning of May - two

months to go.

Firstly I'd like to thank Lion

David Squire for running the

April Board Meeting and the

last Dinner Meeting in

April. Getting in some

practice.

I hope everyone had a safe

and enjoyable Easter.

Tonight we have a guest

speaker in Bob Walker from

Community and Stakeholder

Engagement Team,

Community Engagement

Office, Office of Fair

Trading. His presentation will

be on phone and internet

scams.

Unfortunately Darryl & I

have had to cancel our trip to

Hobart for MD201

Convention but I'm sure Lion

Rodd will keep us informed.

June 7th is the 100 year

anniversary of Lions

International and there is a

celebratory dinner being held

at Tattersalls Club on that

date. Could I ask members to

consider attending. I will be

talking more about this

tonight.

Last Friday I visited Ferny

Grove State School together

with some fire officers who

spoke to the Grade 4's about

Fire Safety in the Home. I

then spoke to the students

about the Fire Poster

Competition. We had a good

response.

Yours in Lionism

Wendy

G.V.K Lioness Club now have

19 members in our Club. Our

newest member Jenny was

inducted at our April meeting.

Margaret who transferred

from Morayfield Lioness Club

has helped to reach this

number. Lionesses welcome

these Lionesses to our Club &

look forward to working with

them on all projects.

Roster for Harvey Norman

sausage sizzle in May has been

filled. Thanks to Lions for

helping set up food van every

roster.

Lioness cuppa & chat on April

1st hosted by Redcliffe

Central at Woody Point was

attended by 40 Lionesses.

Guest speaker gave us an

insight into Brisbane Basket

Brigade, a very worthwhile

Christmas project. He is

willing to visit Clubs as a

Guest speaker.

Australia’s Biggest Morning

Tea is being held at

Mitchelton Senior citizens

Hall on 24th May, cost $10.00,

lucky door prizes &

raffles. Lioness Club

thanks Mitchelton senior

citizens for donating use of

Hall. Let's hope there’s a day

when cancer is just a zodiac

sign,

Happy Birthday Joan 25th

April.

Pres. Grace

Not a lot to report on this

month. The only thing being

the modifications that were

requested by the certifier to

make the shed finished and

legal have being carried out.

Thanks to John Burdak. Jim

Lions Code of Ethics

To show my faith in the

worthiness of my

vocation by industrious

application to the end

that I may merit a

reputation for quality of

service.

To seek success and to

demand all fair

remuneration or profit

as my just due, but to

accept no profit or

success at the price of

my own self-respect lost

because of unfair

advantage taken or

because of questionable

acts on my part.

To remember that in

building up my business

it is not necessary to

tear down another’s; to

be loyal to my clients or

customers and true to

myself.

Whenever a doubt

arises as to the right or

ethics of my position or

action towards others,

to resolve such doubt

against myself.

To hold friendship as an

end and not a means. To

hold that true

friendship exists not on

account of the service

performed by one to

another, but that true

friendship demands

nothing but accepts

service in the spirit in

which it is given.

Always to bear in mind

my obligations as a

citizen to my nation, my

state and my

community, and to give

to them my unswerving

loyalty in word, act and

deed. To give them

freely of my time, labor

and means.

To aid others by giving

my sympathy to those in

distress, my aid to the

weak, and my substance

to the needy.

To be careful with my

criticism and liberal

with my praise; to build

up and not destroy.

Lion’s Club Purposes

To Create and foster a

spirit of understanding

among the peoples of

the world.

To promote the

principles of good

government and good

citizenship.

To fund and otherwise

serve the civic, cultural,

social and moral welfare

of the community.

To assist financially,

culturally, socially and

morally the

handicapped,

disadvantaged and

infirm of the community

both directly and also

indirectly.

To unite the clubs in the

bonds of friendship,

good fellowship and

mutual understanding.

To provide a forum for

the open discussion of

all matters of public

interest: provided

however, that partisan

politics and secretarian

religion shall not be

debated by club

members.

To encourage service-

minded people to serve

their community

without personal

financial reward, and to

encourage efficiency

and promote high

ethical standards in

commerce, industry,

professions, public

works and private

endeavors.
