Homework
A homework packet is given every Monday and due every Friday to include Spelling, Reading, and Math.
In addition to homework, 20 minutes of reading is required each night. This will help your child with their fluency as well as their vocabulary.
Please have your child practice their math facts nightly (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division). Information will come home this week about XtraMath, the online Math program.
Tuesday Take Home Folder
Every Tuesday, your child will bring home a red “Coyote Folder.” This folder will contain graded work and various flyers.
Please go through your child’s work with them and ask them any questions you may have.
Some papers may ask for your signature. Please sign them and send them back to class.
Once all papers are reviewed, sign your child’s folder and return on Wednesday.
Comal ISD Homework Policy
Homework may be assigned not to exceed 40 minutes.
Students are expected to complete all homework assignments.
Each student is expected to read at least 20 minutes each school night in addition to assigned homework.
The total homework should never exceed one- hour.
If two or more teachers are working with a student, the homework should be coordinated to adhere to the one-hour time frame limit.
Re-teaching and Reassessment for Mastery
Reteaching is using assesment data to identify weak skills and providing additional instruction time to help students master concepts.
Reassessments will be a new or different evaluation at the same level of rigor as the original test.
Reassessments will occur after re-teaching has taken place.
Students shall receive no higher than a 75 on any reassessment of the content within a given grading period.
4th grade Behavior Expectations
The 4th grade teachers are empowering our students to become responsible leaders in our society.
We ask that each leader will listen to and follow the directions the first time they are given.
We ask that each leader will treat others the way he /she wants to be treated.
Each student will receive 2 warnings from the teacher and numerous redirections before a note is written in the agenda. At that time, the student will be asked to complete a Behavior Reflection chart. The chart will go home with the note in the agenda. Both the agenda and reflection chart will be due back the next day, signed by a parent.
4th grade Rewards
Each student has the opportunity to earn individual Coyote Cash for excellent behavior, showing responsibility, being a great leader, being a wonderful friend, etc..
The students have the opportunity to buy different items from the Coyote Store with their Coyote Cash at the end of every nine weeks.
Warm Fuzzies- each 4th grade teacher is participating in a class reward system. The class can earn different compliments from any teacher. The teacher will place a fuzzy in the jar for the class to earn a reward when they reach their goal.
