The New Home of Stanford FootballA new Stanford Stadium will be unveiledfor the 2006 season, making the Home ofStanford Football one of the premiercollege football facilities in the nation.Originally built in 1921, the $90 millionproject on the new Stadium began onNovember 26, 2005, moments afterStanford’s final game. The stadium willhave a seating capacity of 50,000 andinclude state-of-art amenities both on theplaying field and throughout the stadium.

Set in a parklike setting among groves ofeucalyptus and oak trees, the Stadium is aperfect setting for Football Saturdays,with fans tailgating and enjoying thepregame festivities prior to kickoff.

Stanford Stadium has played host to theSuper Bowl, Men’s and Women’s WorldCup Soccer matches, Olympic soccercompetition, a Presidential nominationand countless college football games.

FootballFacilities

Stanford’s Athletics facilities are perhaps the finest in collegiate athletics, and Stanford’s football program is no exception.

The Stanford football program ishoused in the spacious ArrillagaFamily Sports Center, which includesadministrative offices, meeting rooms,training facilities and even a full-sizedbasketball court. The Harvey BernhardFootball Locker Room is located on theground floor, and an extensive weighttraining facility is located downstairs.The Arrillaga Family Sports Center alsoincludes a restaurant and the StanfordAthletics Hall of Fame Room, with itsimpressive display of Stanford’s 12Directors’ Cups and NCAA trophies.

The football practice fields are locateddirectly across from the ArrillagaFamily Sports Center, adjacent to theworld-class Avery Aquatic Complex.

Under the guidance of Head StrengthCoach Ron Forbes, all Cardinal footballplayers receive a personalized strengthand conditioning program specificallydesigned to meet their individualneeds and help them develop their full potential.

Each athlete has a comprehensive periodized exercise program to improve such athletic performance variables as strength, speed,acceleration, agility, muscular endurance, balance, coordination, flexibility and body composition.
