History
• The Bay View Community Center was started in 1978 in a single storefront on Milwaukee’s Kinnickinnic Avenue. We’ve since moved to a more suitable location on Oklahoma Avenue.
• From its earliest days, the Bay View Community Center has fostered a belief in quality. Our staff + volunteers aim to consistently provide programs that exceed expectations.
• Our volunteer staff is a full-force operation: they function in many ways like a paid staff. Our volunteer group exceeds more than 100 people.

How
to Serve
The Bay View Community Center runs on the passion + generosity of our 100+ volunteer corp.
Why Volunteer?
Volunteering with BVCC is a great way to give back to the community.
We’re flexible - you have the option to volunteer regularly, or participate in one-time projects that families, a group of friends, a youth sports team, or even a company can do.
From serving a meal at the monthly Senior Celebration or sorting donated canned goods, we have projects that make a difference.
“You make a living by what you get. You make a life by what you give.” -Winston Churchill

Volunteer Stories
“I live in Bay View, this is home. The center serves so many people and there is a large constituency that needs our services that may not be able to afford them elsewhere.” “I love the intergenerational approach. We offer opportunities for people to connect with one another to build a supportive community at various stages of life…we hold space for people to just be, and I think that's a special thing.” “I live in the area and have come to love the real people, unique places and overall sense of community. Bay view offers a feel of authenticity and realness that you share with all your neighbors (of various ages, backgrounds, personal experiences). I don't think you get this elsewhere locally.”
Become a Volunteer
• If you’re interested in becoming a volunteer, complete + submit our Volunteer Application.
• Once received, a staff member will contact the potential volunteer to schedule an interview.
Ways to Give
Monetary Donations Monetary donations allow us to leverage the most for your
donation. We accept checks, cash and credit cards. To donate
with Visa or Mastercard you may contact us by phone, or
mail/walk-in your donation. Donations are tax deductible.
In-Kind Donations If you have an in-kind donation that is not on our list, please
reach out.
Non-Perishable Food Food is always needed in our Emergency Food Pantry. We
average between 300-500 visits a month from Families and
Individuals in need. Items that we always need are Peanut
Butter & Jelly, Cereal, Creamed Soups, Canned Fruits, Pasta,
Rice and Canned Meats.
Sporting or Entertainment Tickets Have tickets you can no longer use? Consider donating them to
the Center. We will distribute them to a family or individual
who otherwise would not be able to go.
Gift Cards Consider re-gifting a gift card to the Center. If you are a
Businesses Owner, Gift Cards & Certificates are a great
donation to generate new customers from one of our
Fundraising Events.

you would like to donate to us to sell on e-Bay? Popular sale
items are vintage/estate jewelry, hats, purses; stamp or coin
