http://naep-uk.org/conference/

In the current changing landscape, as demands on health and social care

education increase and priorities change, new challenges and opportunities

present themselves. Now, perhaps more than ever, we need to ensure that

practice education remains high on the agenda, evidencing innovation and quality

as well as responsiveness to changes in practice and future needs. Against this

backdrop partnerships and innovations in practice based learning offer a means to

maintain capacity and quality and provide a focus for the 2017 conference.

Therefore we are seeking poster and presentation abstracts for the following

themes:

Working in partnership to build placement capacity

Assessment for learning in practice in a shifting landscape

Research in practice education

We look forward to seeing you in April 2017

CAIPE Board Meeting on Tuesday 7th March 2017.

Key points raised were:

Marion Huber and Juanjo Beunza have been co-opted to the board as International

links.

The IPE guidelines and a covering email have been distributed equally amongst the

board members who have sent them out to their listed contacts (Non Corporate

HEI’s).

Shobi Nagraj is chair of the Research group following the departure of Scott Reeves.

CAIPE Five Year Strategic Plan was ratified by the Board, the process of identifying

responsibility for implementation will now begin

ATBHVIII Post Conference Report available on the website. This was a great success

and the planning committee were commended for their work.

World Co-ordinating Committee is exploring proposals

for: administrative/secretarial support. CAIPE will submit a proposal to support for

the next two years; the development of it’s own website rather than hosted by

Robert Gordon University.

Pan American health organisations held a conference to promote IPE in Latin

American at the end of last year. Liz Anderson attended on behalf of CAIPE. Juanjo

Beunza from Madrid, also attended and proposed that CAIPE has an important role,

but distance and cultural differences may prove challenging. He has offered to

represent CAIPE and to assess the most effective way CAIPE could help.

Following the presentation from the honorary fellows at the Chair’s Event in

November 2016 on IPE Leadership, they submitted a bid to the Leadership

Foundation and have requested that CAIPE partner them in this research. The board

expressed support for this initiative.

CAIPE responds to Improving Safety through Education and Training, Report by the

Commission on Education and Training for Patient Safety.

CAIPE recommends this report to its members. It provides a strong steer for IPE linked

directly to addressing the current concerns for patient safety. It should be used as a vehicle

to propel local IPE initiatives which require the support of Health Education England

especially for new projects and for educational research.
