welcome to the cathedral

Welcome to the Cathedral-Basilica of St. Louis King of France...
On behalf of our Archbishop, Most Rev. Gregory M. Aymond, our parishioners, deacons, and priests, I welcome you to St. Louis Cathedral and hope that your visit will be a memorable one.
I invite you to consider the Cathedral your parish away from home. It is my prayer that your time here will be a spiritually uplifting experience. I appreciate your generosity in the support of our Cathedral. It is with your help that we are able to maintain its beautiful state, that we may continue to worship God within these walls as has been done since 1718. May God enrich you with many graces and blessings.

National Vocation Awareness Week is an annual week-long celebration of the Catholic Church in the United States dedicated to promote vocations to ordained ministry and consecrated life through prayer and education, and to renew our prayers and support for those who are considering one of these particular vocations. We take this opportunity to invite you to pray for the young men and women discerning religious vocations in our Archdiocese of New Orleans.
PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS
God our Father, Who wills that all men be saved
And come to the knowledge of Your Truth: We beg you to send
Laborers into Your harvest, And grant them grace to speak Your Word
With all boldness; so that Your Word May spread and be glorified,
And all nations may know You, The only God, and Him whom You have sent,
Jesus Christ your Son, Our Lord. Amen.

Archbishop Aymond’s Prayer (when faced with fears of Coronavirus)
Loving and faithful God, the coronavirus reminds us that we have no power and we are dependent on You. We place ourselves in Your loving hands. Please give eternal rest to all who have died from the virus. Please put Your healing hand on those who are ill, and give Your protection to us in this time of fear and uncertainty. Please, calm our fears and help us to trust You as our faithful God. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Our Lady of Prompt Succor, pray for us
in this time of need.
2021 Hurricane Season
As we are now well into the hurricane season, please pray that through the intercession of Our Lady of Prompt Succor, New Orleans and the Gulf Coast region will be spared further damage to life and property throughout its duration.
In addition, we ask that you keep in your prayers all of our families, neighbors and friends throughout the Archdiocese of New Orleans, and all who were affected by Hurricane Ida. May they experience God’s comfort and love through our prayers and the efforts of persons responding to their needs.

Each year on November 11, the United States observes Veterans Day and remembers all those who have served our country in times of war.
“Even the privilege to hold differing opinions and to express them openly is a result of the sacrifice of a few for all. Let us remember those who have sacrificed so much to serve our country. Let us keep them all in our prayers, on Veterans Day and always.” Archbishop Broglio of Military Archdiocese of USA
POPE FRANCIS’ PRAYER INTENTION FOR NOVEMBER
People Who Suffer from Depression We pray that people who suffer from depression or burn-out will find support and a light that opens them up to life.
CATHOLIC COMMUNITY FOUNDATION ESTABLISHES HURRICANE IDA RECOVERY & RELIEF FUND
Th Catholic Community Foundation (CCF) has collaborated with the Archdiocese of New Orleans to establish the Hurricane Ida Recovery and Relief Fund to benefit those impacted by the storm. If you would like to make a gift through CCF to help community members rebuild after the extensive damage rendered by this natural disaster, please give back here: www.ccfnola.org/hurricane-ida-relief.
PRAYER FOR SAFETY DURING HURRICANE SEASON
God, Master of this passing world, hear the humble voices of your children. The Sea of Galilee obeyed Your order and may they experience God’s comfort and love through our
prayers and the efforts of persons responding to their needs returned to its former quietude.
You are still the Master of land and sea. We live in the shadow of a danger over which we have no control: the Gulf, like a provoked and angry giant, can awake from its seeming lethargy, overstep its conventional
boundaries, invade our land, and spread chaos and disaster.
During this hurricane season we turn to You, O loving Father. Spare us from past tragedies whose memories are still so vivid and whose wounds seem to refuse to heal with passing of time.
O Virgin, Star of the Sea, Our beloved Mother, we ask you to plead with your Son on our behalf,
so that spared from the calamities common to this area and animated with a true spirit of gratitude, we will walk in the footsteps of your Divine Son to reach the heavenly Jerusalem,
where a stormless eternity awaits us. Amen.
