Directions to the Division of Experimental Medicine (DEM) There are many options to get to the Division of Experimental Medicine (DEM) at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital (ZFGH). See below for options and directions to find your way here.
Walking from SFGH 23rd Street Parking Garage
- From the 23rd Street Parking Garage (B), cross the street and walk between the two
hospitals until you reach 22nd Street. See above map for walking directions. - Make a right turn on 22nd Street and walk uphill until you reach building 3 (A).
- Go up building 3 (A) stairs to the 1st floor. Pick up the telephone that is adjacent to the
first of two elevators. The phone will automatically dial to the DEM administration
office. When someone answers the phone, tell the administrator who you wish to see.
Driving to ZFGH – DEM
From San Mateo County HWY 101 north bound
- Exit Cesar Chaves Avenue and take Potrero Avenue exit. - Continue driving on Potrero Avenue until you reach 23rd Street. - Make a right turn on 23rd Street, then a left turn into the visitor’s parking lot. Additional
parking is available on 24st Street and Utah Street (B).
From Marin County HWY 101 south bound
- Drive east bound on Lombard Avenue and make a right turn on Van Ness Avenue.
- Continue driving on Van Ness Avenue until you reach Division /13th Street. Make a
left turn.
- Next, make a right turn on Potrero Avenue and drive until you reach 23rd Street.
Make a left turn.
- Make another left turn into the visitor’s parking lot. Additional parking is available on
24st Street and Utah Street (B).
From east bay/bay bridge Interstate 80 west bound
- The highway will change to HWY 101 south bound.
- Take Cesar Chaves west exit, then take Potrero Avenue exit.
- Make a right turn on 23rd Street.
- Make a left turn into the visitor’s parking lot. Additional parking is available on 24st
Street and Utah Street (B).
Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) and SF MUNI BUS to DEM
From all BART locations - Take the San Francisco bound train and exit at the 24st Street Bart Station. - Board the 48 Quintara Muni Bus going East bound @ 24st Street and Mission Street. - Exit the 48 Quintara Muni Bus at 23rd Street and Utah Street and follow the above
directions “from the 23rd Street Parking Garage” and map for walking directions.
UCSF Shuttle to DEM - From UCSF Parnassus campus take the BLUE SHUTTLE to Zuckerberg San
Francisco General - From UCSF Mission Bay campus take the GOLD SHUTTLE to Zuckerberg San
Francisco General - From UCSF Mission Center (and 16th Street BART Station AM & PM only)take the
YELLOW SHUTTLE to Zuckerberg San Francisco General
All shuttles stop at 23rd and Utah Street parking garage (B). See above map for walking directions to DEM (A). Parking at San Francisco General Hospital Options for parking cars at Zuckerberg San Francisco General are limited. It is always best to
consider taking public transportation as the availability of parking spaces is restricted.
Here is what’s available:
SFGH 23rd Street Garage (B) - Located directly across from the hospital. Entrance into the garage is located on 24th
Street between Utah and San Bruno Avenue. There is a one to two year waiting
period for ZSFG and UCSF employees to purchase monthly parking permits. Hourly
parking is available upon availability. For more information, visit their website at

- Hospital Visitors parking lot Located on the hospital campus near the Emergency Clinic. Hourly fee is charged
daily.
- All Day Street Parking
Located in the vicinity of hospital and at the rear of the hospital – west of HWY 101.
There are pedestrian bridge crossings that lead to the rear of the hospital. The bridges
cross HWY 101(north and south bound) and connects to the hospital campus. Nearby
street parking is limited from 1 to 24 hours per day. Watch for weekly street cleaning
schedules on each block as citations are issued for illegal parking on street cleaning
zones.
- ZSFG Parking permits
ZSFG required parking permits around the immediate borders of the campus.
Citations for illegal parking (permit and hourly parking areas) are strictly enforced.
