The mission of the West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional School District can be summarized as whole child/every child. Bus information includes the pick-up time, bus numbers, and drop-off time. Students should be at the designated bus stop ten minutes prior to bus arrival. Contact the Transportation Department (609-716-5000, ext. 5571) with questions or concerns. Bus assignment information will be posted in IC at 5 pm on the following dates:

ConferenCesDuring the school year, parents are welcome to contact teachers or admin-istrators with questions or concerns. WW-P also has specific parent-teacher conference dates scheduled:

These also are early dismissal dates for those schools hosting conferences.

a) Thanks to a grant from the WW-P Education Found- ation, all Grade 3 students are learning astronomy in the STARLAB Mobile Planetarium; these Dutch Neck Elementary School students had an in-depth look at an unspoiled night sky.

B) The students from Maurice Hawk Elementary School showed off their talents with an art show at the West Windsor Arts Center. The student artwork was displayed for a full month, and included an artists’ reception.

C) Extended Day Program (EDP) students at Town Center Elementary School enjoyed a special event that celebrated after-school programs. EDP supports working parents by ensuring that children are safe and productive before and after the school day. Community Education hosts programs in all K-8 schools.

D) SmartBoards are interactive whiteboards that improve learning outcomes. Combining the simplicity of a white- board with the power of a computer, the SMARTBoard delivers dynamic lessons to students at Wicoff Elementary School.

e) Named a Peaceful School for its safe and caring environment, Millstone River School held a contest about peace, and winners were selected to read essays at an all-school assembly.

f) Village School students in Grades 4-5 received honors from the PTA Reflections Program, which encourages students to explore talents and express themselves in dance, film, literature, music, photography, and the visual arts. The theme for last year’s program was “Diversity Means….”

g) Community Middle School celebrated a Day of Service, a character development program honoring the importance of being part of a com-munity of caring people and serving others. CMS students participated in a variety of service projects including writing letters to members currently serving abroad and thanking them for their service to the country.

h) Throughout Science Day, Grover Middle School students presented science experiments to students at the elementary level. Demonstrations included health and the human body, aviation/aeronautics, geology, chemistry, space exploration, watersheds, animals, robotics, and meteorology.

I) The High School North Academic Decathlon Team was named the 2013 New Jersey State Champions. At the national level, the Decathlon Team placed 15th and took home the “Rookie of the Year Award,” which represents the honor of being the highest scoring first-time nationals team.

J) The German National Honor Society recognizes outstanding academic achievement in German. The High School North Honor Society is sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of German, and students volunteer to promote the culture and language within the school.

K) For three nights, in front of packed houses, High School South students performed in the Neil Simon play, “Fools.” The play is a comic fable set in a small village in the Ukraine and debuted on Broadway in 1981; performances such as this are part of an inclusive performing arts program.

l) The High School South Consumer Bowl Team won the Mercer County Competition. The competition was established to educate students on a variety of consumer issues, sponsored by the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs.

If a student is not going to school, a parent/guardian should call the evening before or the morning of any absence or tardiness. In the event the school is not notified, a series of calls will be initiated: to the parent/guardian, to the first emergency contact listed, and then to the police who will visit the home if we are unable to make contact. safe sChoolsProviding a safe and secure environment for teaching and learning is a top priority. Safety and security plans are contin-uously reviewed. Schools practice monthly safety and security drills that include lockdown, evacuation, bomb threat, and active shooter drills. The purpose of these security drills is to help students and staff be prepared in the event that we are faced with an emergency. We have a “Crisis Management Plan” and memorandums of agreement with the Plainsboro Police and the West Windsor Police. in the current budget, the Board of education allocated funds to support security enhancements throughout all the schools, which include lockdown door magnets, interior cameras, and intercom system radios.
