SUMMER NEIGHBORHOOD MASSES

Would You Host a Summer Mass? This is an opportunity for parishioners to meet our Catho-lic neighbors in the surrounding streets, and perhaps en-courage some, who may have been away, to discover the faith and friendship of our parishes.

Parishioners invite those in their neighborhood community to their home for an outdoor 6PM Mass with a potluck picnic following the Mass.

Our Mass schedule will be Tuesdays, July 1 and 8; and Mondays, July 14 and August 4.

If you are able to host one of these wonderful Parish gath-erings, please call Chris Paglia 203-376-2487.

Have you, a family member or friend expressed a desire to learn more about the Catholic Church? Each year the church invites people of other faiths to explore and journey with others who have not been raised in the Catholic Church to spend time each week understand-ing the Church. If you are interested in learning more about this fabulous journey please contact Sr. Jeanne Marie at 203-865-0561.

HOW TO RECEIVE HOLY COMMUNION

At St. Aedan and St. Brendan parishes Holy Communion is offered under both species( Bread & Wine). Catholics be-lieve that through the action of the Holy Spirit and the or-dained priest at Mass, the bread and wine becomes the very body and blood of Jesus Christ. The following is the

PROCEDURE FOR RECEIVING HOLY COMMUNION:

The recipient decides to receive the BODY OF CHRIST on the tongue, or in the hand.

If you wish to receive in the hand: ∗ You approach the Minister of Holy Communion

[without missalettes, rosaries, babies in your hands] with the left hand cupped on top of the right hand at chest height (not waist high).

∗ The minister says, “Body of Christ” ∗ You respond, “ Amen” (I believe) ∗ The Minister places the sacred host in your cupped

hands ∗ You take one step to the side and place the host in your

mouth ∗ You may proceed to receive the Precious Blood or re-

turn to your seat If you wish to receive the Precious Blood from the chal-ice: ∗ You approach the Minister of Holy Communion

[without missalettes, rosaries, and babies in your hand] ∗ The minister says: “The Blood of Christ” ∗ You respond, “Amen” ∗ and carefully take the cup with two hands, drink, and

carefully return the cup to the Minister ∗ Return to your seat

T S G A S We will resume our monthly meetings on the second Satur-day of the month beginning on Sept. 13. Enjoy your Summer!
