the non-standard use of words in a language and sometimes the creation of new words or importation of words from another language.

There are such subdivisions of slang:

Baseball slang

Internet slang

Military slang

Slang names for poker hands

Youth slang

Dude, I am glad you finally called!

We’re just chillin at my house!

COOL! Da bomb!

Take booze, garbage and join us!

To be secret - not understood by those around one

To be 'different', to be novel.

To induce either friendliness or intimacy of a deep kind. 

'just for the fun of the thing'

To show that one belongs to a certain school, trade, or profession

To be picturesque

Slang is the poetry of everyday life.
