The Prelude was written by Maria Theresia von Paradis (1759-1824), acontemporary of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Although stricken with blind-ness at an early age, von Paradis became a concert pianist and composer

who worked tirelessly on behalf of the sight-impaired. The Offertory was penned in 1988 bypopular choral composer Craig Courtney (b. 1954), who matched a new and broadly lyrical mel-ody to the classic 1874 stewardship poem by Frances Havergal (see #399 in our Hymnal). Thestern Postlude is by the Tuscan composer Bernardo Pasquini (1637-1710), who directed themusic a t the Roman basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore and whose distinguished students in-cluded Domenico Scarlatti.

Trinity’s Choirs are always welcoming new members. The Children’s Choir meets onWednesday nights and is directed by Evan Ayars ([email protected]). Our adult vocal andhandbell choirs rehearse each week. For more information about how you can be a part of themusic ministry at Trinity, please contact Jerry Rich (703-356-3312, [email protected]).

StewardshipOur role as God’s stewards is one of our most important roles as Christians.

To help us learn more about stewardship, on the second Sunday of each monthwe are exploring twelve key principles that remind us that stewardship is not justabout money, but so much more. Stewardship is really about our relationship withGod and his world.

In March, our stewardship focus is to sacrifice proportionately. For our sakeJesus gave up everything to make us rich through the cross and the resurrection.

We are called to sacrifice so others may share in God’s word and blessings. For more informa-tion on the principles of stewardship, visit the Trinity website www.umtrinity.org.

If you would like to assist the Stewardship Committee as we work through the year’s cam-paign, we’d look forward to having you join the team. Please contact either Ann Benson([email protected]) or Sue Smith ([email protected]) and let us know.
