Welcome to Wallisdown I am delighted to have been asked to write a brief introduction to this �rst guide to Wallisdown. Wallisdown has much of interest for both local residents and visitors, in addition to the great range of local shops, enjoy the historic and beautiful Talbot Village (established in 1850 by Georgina Talbot who is considered to be one of the main Founders of Bournemouth), Slades Farm (with its schools and recreational activities) and the lovely Turbary Common. Prior to the start of the 19th Century much of what is now Bournemouth was in fact ‘turbary’ land where the local peasants could graze their sheep and cattle, as well as cut fuel for their �res.Since being elected, your local Councillors have worked with the community in improving the area in whatever way we have been able. This guide is another step in that process.
