Classroom Rules

• Show respect to

everyone.

• Be seated before the

bell rings.

• Arrive to class prepared

everyday.

• No food or drinks in the

classroom.

When you arrive…• Take care of your

business (Pencil sharpened, blow nose, trash, etc.)

• Be respectful.

• Be in your seat before the bell rings.

• Pay close attention to the “Do Now” part of the lesson on the white board.

Do Nows• Will be completed

EVERY day in World History.

• You will complete them during the first 5-10 minutes of each class period.

• These activities will typically be done in your unit packet.

• In the event of an excused absence, make up replies do nows can be provided by the teacher.

Tardies

• Being on time is an

essential life skill.

• Make arrangements to

avoid being tardy.

• Take care of your personal

business before class.

• 3 tardies = writing

assignment

• 4 tardies = referral

• Any tardy of more than 15

minutes will result in a

referral for cutting class.

collected at the beginning of the period. Any assignments will be collected at the end of the period. “The Paper Tray”

written on it. (0% rule)

through your Jennings Gmail

account or shared through

your Google drive.

Leaving your Seat

• Raise your hand

before leaving your

seat.

• Do not ask to leave the

classroom.

• Do not ask to have

your assigned seat

changed.

Leaving the Classroom

• Take all of your

belongings with you.

• Collect any trash that

you may have

accumulated and

deposit in recycle bin

or trash can.

• Turn in any

assignments that

needs to be turned in.

• Your grade in Social Studies classes will be

based on the Jennings High School grading

scale below:

• A 93-100%

• A- 90-92%

• B+ 87-89%

• B 83-86%

• B- 80-82%

• C+ 77-79%

• C 73-76%

• C- 70-72%

• D+ 67-69%

• D 63-66%

• D- 60-62%

* A grade that is below 60% will be recorded as an F.

JHS Make-Up Work Policy

• You can make up any late or missing assignments

during the current five week grading period.

• Any assignment not made up by the end of the five

week grading period will not receive any credit for

that assignment.

• The way you make up work also makes a difference:

• If work is made up in my classroom before or after

school receives a 10% reduction on the student’s

grade on that assignment.

• If assignment is made up elsewhere there will be a

50% reduction on the student’s grade on that

assignment.

SIS K12 Network

• SIS K12 is a building wide record keeping network that is used by all JHS building staff.

• You will receive a code which allows you to set up a login name and password.

• You (and your parents) can instantly check your grade and attendance online.

• You are able to login at home, or next time in class.

Progress Profile

• All returned

assignments will a

grade in RED INK if

not, I haven’t graded it.

receive a satisfactory

Extra Credit

• I give extra credit

Fire Drills

• Signal is a continuous

ringing of fire bells.

• Keep all personal

belongings in the

classroom.

• Stay calm

• Turn left and out the

doors towards the

Football/Soccer field.

Tornado Drills

• Signal is a high and low tone over the speaker.

• Calmly exit into the hallway.

• Position yourself kneeling along the walls of the hallway.

• Cover your head.

Earthquake Drills

• Remain calm

• Place your entire

body under any

tables or in any

nearby doorway.

• Stay away from

windows.

Intruder Drills• Two types

• Shelter and Place-

issue within the

community—we will

continue our normal

classroom

instruction.

• Take Cover- issue

within the building--

door is locked, we

move away from the

door and windows.

Intercom Messages

• Pay attention to all

messages over the

intercom.

• Daily

announcements are

meant to be heard

by the entire

student body.

Important JHS Info for 2017-18• Jennings School District is a fully accredited district

with 100% of last year’s graduates placed in college, the military, or full-time employment.

• Passes- none will be written for the first and last 10 minutes of each block.

• Locker Usage- 3 times daily (before school, lunch, after school)

• Uniform/Dress Code- black or khaki pants, shorts, skirts, shirts ok. Polos and spirit t-shirts ok.

• Administrator Assignments: Mr. Dowden (9th/10th), Dr. Ming (11th grade) Dr. Key (12th grade)

Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)

What is an Acceptable Use Policy?

• An explanation of the classroom, school, and district policies on using the Internet

• A description of the purpose of the Internet in this classroom

• A description of how I expect you to treat the computers in the classroom

• An agreement between you and the school district

The internet is NOT to be used for

• Listening to music or viewing videos

• Pornographic sites

• Chat rooms

• Checking e-mail

• Inappropriate text files

• Harassing other students

• Hate mail

• Discriminatory remarks

• Viewing sites other than ones that I have directed you to

The internet IS to be used for

• Making school work more fun

• Putting you in charge of your own learning

• Allowing you to explore ideas from around the world

• Making school more meaningful for you

• Increasing your academic achievement

Consequences of Violating AUP

• Loss of Computer privileges.

• Failure of current assignment.

• Parental contact.

• Student referred to the Dean’s office.

• Removal from technology classroom.
