Assessment of CoursesYear 11Assessment is conducted by the School and as per NESA guidelines will consist of 3 pieces of Summative assessment.

While Year 11 assessments do not contribute towards the calculation of HSC results, satisfactory completion of course requirements are essential before a student can progress to HSC studies in that course.

HSCHSC marks are calculated using the following:

- Examination Mark (from the HSC Exam)- Assessment Mark

The assessment mark is the school based assessment component that counts for 50% of the HSC mark.

All courses have externally assessed components, which will be made up of written examinations, practical works, speaking and listening tests etc, as outlined in the syllabus for that subject.

Parent/Student-Teacher Meeting

An email has been sent to families to arrange a meeting with an Executive Staff member to discuss subject options.

Subject Selection ProcedureThe overarching guidelines for subject selection are:• Choose what you are good at and like• Look at subject prerequisites• If you are after a higher ATAR consider Extension subjects• Choose subjects you will be happy to do for the 2 years

Factors that should NOT be taken into account:• What my friends are doing• Who I think the teacher might be

Web Preference Process• Student choices create

the school timetable• Preferences are

important• You may get into one of

your reserve subjects

Preference order is important
