Welcome to Year 3 Parents Meeting
From the Year 3 Team
Introductions3M – Mrs McLaughlin (Year Leader) Miss Lake, who is undertaking her school based teacher training programme, will be based in this class.
3B – Miss Barrett

3P – Mr Pope
TA support – Miss Green, (Graduate TA) Mrs Calabrese, Mrs Featherstone, Mrs Kingsbury and
Mr Plant.
Mrs Jefcut is the deputy head for Key Stage 2.

If you have any questions or concerns, please, in the first
instance approach your child’s class teacher. If they are unable to help, Mrs McLaughlin is available as Year leader, or in her absence
Mrs Jefcut is available by appointment.
Literacy
This half term we will be looking at adventure stories based on a variety of exciting books such as ‘The Tunnel’ by Anthony Brown.
The children will continue to use ‘Talk for Writing’ to extend their writing techniques.
Maths
This half term we will be looking at: Number and Place ValueAddition and SubtractionWord Problem and Problem SolvingMultiplication and DivisionFractions
NB - Children will always be challenged, according to their ability.
The Creative Curriculum
Topic work – Each half term the children’s work will be based on a topic.
This half –term the topic will be Games centred around the picture by:

The following subjects will be covered in the Creative Curriculum – Science, History, Geography, Art, DT, Philsophy4Children, ICT and Music.
Reading at Home
Children will have the opportunity to change their reading every other day or when they need to. Please make sure you sign the diary if you have heard your child read at home.Children will be encouraged to read at their own level & pace.Please don’t feel that your child has to read a whole book in one night. Little and often has proven to be effective.Continue to use the reading strategies from Year 2.
Remember – your child doesn’t always have to read to you, sharing library books that you read is good practice too!
Daily Lessons and Homework
Daily – Guided Reading, English, Maths. Weekly lessons include Science. Fortnightly Computing and French.Creative Learning (History, Geography, R.E, Art, Music and Dance )
Homework:Each week the children will have;Spellings (Wednesdays)MathlecticsLiteracy Reading
P.E
• P.E kit in school on a Thursday.
• Kit should consist of a white T-shirt or a house colour, Green-Oak, Yellow-Willow, Red- Chestnut and Blue-Beech , dark shorts and trainers. Tracksuit bottoms/warm top in colder weather.
• The children would also benefit from having a water bottle.
