Welcome to your Prince’s Trust Team
Name:
Team:
è This is your chance to discover your skills by getting stuck into exciting activities and challenges
è You are now part of something very special, along with 10,000 others who take part in Team across the UK every year
è As you work as part of a team, you will be able to achieve a

You can write on the pages in this folder or you can use a computer.
Learning Record This is your Learning Record. You will use it to make plans, record what you do and keep
the information for your qualification
Plan, Do, Review In every part of your programme, you will learn by planning, taking action, thinking about
how you got on and what changes you would make next time. So remember:
DO
REVIEW
PLAN
DEVELOP
At the start, you will identify your skills and set targets in your Learning Plan
Keep track of what you do in your Diary and Activity Reviews. You’ll also
collect evidence for your qualification
Every few weeks you will check your progress against your targets with the Team
Leader and record this in your Learning Review
Each time you check your progress you will set new targets for your time on
Team and beyond in your Learning Plan and your Future Plans

You’ve had a chance on Team to think about who you are and what you want to do in the future.
The best way to achieve your goals is to continue using the Plan, Do, Review model.
It might help to:
è look at the targets you set in week 1 and think about what you have achieved so far
And, think about:
è what job you want?
è any courses you need to take?
è would it be useful to volunteer?
è do you need to work on your literacy and numeracy?
è are there other ways The Prince’s Trust could support you? See website princes-trust.org.uk
è what other people and organisations might help you?

Weeks 7-9
Work placements give you the chance to:
try a particular type of work
find out what employers are looking for
understand the importance of good time-keeping and attendance
in the workplace
gain current experience to add to your CV
gain a valuable reference from your employer
Simple rules to remember are:
Time-keeping matters
you must start and finish your working day at
the agreed times
Let people know if you won’t be in
you must telephone both the work placement
and your Team Leader straight away. If you
are too ill, ask someone to telephone for you
Look right
you must dress appropriately for the type
of work
Keep off the phone
you must not use the telephone (work or
personal mobile), email or internet at your
work placement without permission
This is work
you should not invite friends or relatives to
visit you at your work placement
It’s not all exciting
you may sometimes be given routine or
repetitive tasks as part of the job and should
respond appropriately
Know the rules
you must follow the rules and regulations of
the work placement provider, in particular,
the safety regulations
Ask
remember – always ask if you need help
Speak up
if things are not working out, tell your
Team Leader
Work experience is made possible for you by the co-operation of your work
placement providers. We rely on you treating the placement with respect
so we can get placements in the future. Remember that an important part
of work experience is getting on with other people, trying to understand
their point of view and ‘fitting in’.
