We continue to be appreciative that we are at Level 1, and we thank you for your support through the whole Level 4 to 1 process. We still have students that are not back yet and welcome them with open arms. We do have to stress that if your child is unwell they are to stay home. We truly thank you for that commitment. Room 12 Students As you are aware, Room 12 is the class where our students start school. We have a bulge of in zone students coming through in Term 3 and we will be restructuring so we can accommodate to meet this. Parents will be notified about this and please, if you have any concerns, you are welcome to talk them through. Parking on Yellow Lines We continue to get cars parked on yellow lines and the police continue to be interested in this illegal action. Please respect the safety of our students. If you are running late then text the school and let us know. But if it is just being inconsiderate, it will end up costing by way of a fine. Please think about safety above all else. Term 2 Reports Teachers have been busy writing reports and these will come out in the last week of term. They are titled an ‘Approximation’ report, meaning that we were not at school as expected so this is how the teacher sees your child. They are not formally measured against the curriculum levels, the measure is more around the gains they are making so far this year. Spare Clothing Please remember to put a spare set of clothes in your child’s bag right down to underwear. Yes, those muddy accidents are on the increase. If you have any spare girls’ leggings/long trousers you could donate, we would value them as our supply is constantly being depleted. Sweatshirts would also be appreciated. However, if all children had a spare set of clothing in their bag, this would eliminate the need to ask. Learning Or Social Concerns Please know you are welcome to meet your child/ren’s teacher(s) if you have concerns with their learning, or social concerns. Meetings can be arranged to accommodate schedules. You can email them directly, ring the school for an appointment, or access your child’s teacher through Seesaw. We do need a bit of warning as teachers often have other commitments either onsite or offsite that can see them having to leave school early, or for them not to be found in their rooms.

Kia ora, Talofa lava, Malo e lelei, Kia orana, Fakaalofa lahi atu, Malo ni, Bula, Nameste, Greetings… Welcome… Week 10 Term 2!

We continue to be appreciative that we are at Level 1, and we thank you for your support through the whole Level 4 to 1 process. We still have students that are not back yet and welcome them with open arms. We do have to stress that if your child is unwell they are to stay home.

Winter SportsAs we prepare students for the upcoming Winter Sports, we want to express our sincere gratitude to the parents/whanau for stepping up to support the teams so that our students can play. We truly thank you for that commitment.

Room 12 StudentsAs you are aware, Room 12 is the class where our students start school. We have a bulge of in zone students coming through in Term 3 and we will be restructuring so we can accommodate to meet this. Parents will be notified about this and please, if you have any concerns, you are welcome to talk them through.

Parking on Yellow LinesWe continue to get cars parked on yellow lines and the police continue to be interested in this illegal action. Please respect the safety of our students. If you are running late then text the school and let us know. But if it is just being inconsiderate, it will end up costing by way of a fine. Please think about safety above all else.

Term 2 ReportsTeachers have been busy writing reports and these will come out in the last week of term. They are titled an ‘Approximation’ report, meaning that we were not at school as expected so this is how the teacher sees your child. They are not formally measured against the curriculum levels, the measure is more around the gains they are making so far this year.

Spare ClothingPlease remember to put a spare set of clothes in your child’s bag right down to underwear.

Learning Or Social ConcernsPlease know you are welcome to meet your child/ren’s teacher(s) if you have concerns with their learning, or social concerns. Meetings can be arranged to accommodate schedules. You can email them directly, ring the school for an appointment, or access your child’s teacher through Seesaw. Thank you again!!I need to stress on behalf of the team at KPS our sincere gratitude for the great learning support you gave your child/ren during the national lockdown. We continue to hear the stories and see the progress they made with you. Your children are so proud of the experiences you provided, even when conditions were tough for some families with job losses and human loss. Kia kaha whanau! We are so proud of you all!

“Follow your instincts, be curious, dream big, love what you do, love learning, keep an open heart and a strong spirit, have fun.”

Sally Wilson – Principal

Olden Days I’m olden day blooded. I like the idea of riding a horse to school. Also I like the idea of having a bath in the kitchen. Another point I don’t like the sound of driving a car. Therefore I do not like petrol. Also the car engine makes such an engine racket. Last point black and white movies are so much fun and that’s why I like the olden days. Rory Nielsen

Olden Days Firstly, I would go on a horse. It would be so much fun going on a horse to school and the horses feet make a clip clop clip clop noise. Finally the girls wear long dresses and pinafore. Secondly, I like school because I like doing maths and writing with an iPad. I prefer wearing t-shirts and shorts rather than wearing dresses. So that’s why I like the modern days. Naia Rewi-Rati

Modern Times In my opinion the Modern days are the best! Because there is a lot of machinery . In the olden days they didn’t have any machinery. Secondly, we now have a lot more toys than the olden days. Also finally our devices can also help with school work. There are apps that help us. Therefore the modern days are the best. Bees Bees are hard workers. That’s why bees are called busy bees. Every bee has a job to make honey. The queen bee is in charge of the hive and she lays eggs. Eggs turn into larvae which turn into a worker bee. Beekeeping Firstly the beekeepers put on the overalls then they put on the veil. Next they get the wheelbarrow. The wheelbarrow has all the equipment for the beekeepers like the smoker and the brushes. They put the tarp on top of the wheelbarrow. They take it to the bee house. The beekeepers carefully take a look to see if the bees had finished making some honey. Finally they go to the factory and use a spinner to spin the honey out of the frames. They pour the honey into the glass jars. Emily Macleod

Te Terenga Parāroa - The Sperm Whale When the sperm whale died the people used the whale for food and weapons also for jewellery

and for bait. They used the bones for axes and the oil in the whale for candles so they didn’t get cold. Hone Heke gathered all of the chiefs up to have a talk and that was 200 years ago. When Hone Heke looked down at all of the other chiefs. Hone Heke called it the gathering of the whales.
