08.12 | Aesop’s Fables Music and Stories with Susan Reed. Bring the kids for Parent’s Choice winner Susan Reed’s fun and playful blend of music and stories in a participatory program of Aesop’s fables and her own original songs.
08.28 | Krazy Klezmer Explore the fun and fascinating sounds of klezmer, vibrant Jewish folk music, sure to make you get up and dance. International star, David Krakauer leads his band of clarinet, accordion, bass, and drums in a program for all ages!
Beethoven’s Fingerprints
This season the Festival launches a new educational initiative, open to all. Festival Artistic Director, Aaron Wunsch, a professor at the Juilliard School, will teach the first course.
3 Classes: Tuesdays, 2-3pm; 8/18, 8/25, 9/1, and 1 Concert: Wednesday, 2-3pm; 9/2 Learn the basics of reading a musical score by following Beethoven as he composes his String Quartet, Op. 59, No. 3 (“Razumovsky”). Multimedia presentations explore the ups and downs of Beethoven’s life at the time, his first sketches for the quartet, his complete manuscript, and the finished score, culminating in a festival performance of the piece by the Miró Quartet. Whether or not you have any background in music, you will further your skills and learn secrets about one of music’s towering figures.
