I have also attained qualifications in non-destructive testing (NDT), including;ultrasonic, magnetic particle, dye penetrant and welding inspection. I Qualifiedas a commercial air diver in 1983 and worked in the offshore and civil engineeringsectors, as both a wet and dry hyperbaric welder. In 1987 I set up HydromechTechnical Services Ltd (HTS) and qualified as a welding instructor through theSTA College in 1989, as well gaining a range of other technical (TWI) weldingqualifications. In 1990 and I wrote my first book, The Professional Divers Manualon Wet Welding, which was published by Woodhead Publishing (part of theTWI ). In 1991, in association with The Marine & Engineering TrainingAssociation (now EAL), I ran the UKs first National Qualification in underwaterwelding and began offering training courses in the UK and overseas. By 1994we had become the UKs only approved test and assessment centre. Continuingwith my studies, I qualified as an International/European welding technologistand received a Diploma in welding engineering and technology from TWI in 1992and 1997 I gained my National Certificate in metals technology from Bradford& Ilkley College. I then qualified as a Senior Welding Inspector at TWI in 2000.I established Speciality Welds Ltd in 2002, following an MBO from the MOSInternational Plc Group, where had been responsible to the board for all welding,training, inspection and product manufacturing. In 2004 I completed the second

revised edition of my book, A Welders Mate, published by Troubadour. In2010 and I was accepted as a Member of BINDT and I am currently workingtowards CEng status. My ethos is to offer a comprehensive range ofprofessional services to the welding industries, including; welder training andqualifications, NDT/weld testing, consultancy and technical services and a widerange of other related welding products and services.

I have committed my life to welding and in turn, it has given me a lifetime ofexperiences and skills that I hope will be of service to you.

Welder Training & Qualification Testing

We have been associated with training industrial, professional and the enthusiastwelder for many years. Individual clientsare welcomed and all our courses are available to the aspiring professional welder.Training modules are tailored to suit specific needs and can be delivered on site,or at our specialist in-house training centre, in West Yorkshire. As officially accredited Zurich Insurance welding surveyors, we also offer Class Iand Class II qualification services, to all British, European, American andInternational standards; BSEN 287, BSEN 288-9, ISO 15614-1, ISO 9606-2, BS4872-1/2, ASME IX, AWS D1.1, D3.6, CAA and client specific.

Underwater Welder Training

As accepted World leaders in the provision of underwater welder training,Speciality Welds is proud to offer a worlds first. The only independently qualityassured, accredited and audited programme of this kind; The Weldcraft- Pro.

This course is fully certified by EAL, part of SEMTA - Sector Skills Council forScience, Engineering and Manufacturing Technologies, the UKs leading awardingbody for engineering qualifications. The course is also recognised by IMarEST -The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology. The Weldcraft-Pro is delivered, under license, through approved diver training schools. Thetraining is
