Well Done Year 6

This week Davy Class have been working exceptionally

hard to complete their End of Key Stage 2 Assessment Test

(SATs). Every morning the children have started each day

with a ‘Brainy Breakfast’ and then got straight on with the job

in hand. From Monday to Thursday they have had a number

of tests to assess their abilities in reading, spelling, punctua-

tion, grammar and also maths. We are genuinely so very

impressed by the children’s drive and commitment to simply

doing their absolute best in these assessments and we are

all very proud indeed of the efforts they have made. Well done Davy Class!

Year 4 Eden Trip

Trengrouse class had an exciting adventure this

week at the Eden Project. They have been learning

all about The Amazon as part of their topic and so

what better way to enhance their learning than go-

ing to see a real (sort of!) rainforest in Eden’s bi-

omes. The children had a fantastic time completing

their training to become a Rainforest Ranger and

found out lots of new tips and ideas on how to sur-

vive, including using bamboo to create fire through

friction! It was a very exciting day out and they

thoroughly enjoyed the challenge, whilst also

learning lots about rainforest survival.

than 60 miles and raise money for two great causes at the same time - ‘Hope For Children’ and

‘Dartmoor Search & Rescue Team’. He is sharing this news in case any of our school families would like to

make donations - see the details below. Thank you.

Year 4 Beach Clean

On the back of our previous success with the school litter pick morning, this term all of our classes are

supporting our drive to keep Perranporth tidy by taking part in a beach clean. On Wednesday, Year 4

got us started by making the trip down to the beach to meet Goonhavern School who have had the

same idea. The children had a talk about how much plastic is on our beaches and in the sea and how it

has such a terrible impact on wildlife. They then took part in a quiz before finding lots of plastic in the

sand, which we are hoping to combine with the other classes to turn into an art, collage design.

FOPS Announcements

Recycling Fundraiser: If you are anything like us, you probably have shelves of

DVD's that no-one ever wants to watch again and stacks of CD's that are gathering

dust. If you do, then this is your chance to get rid of them and raise some money for the

school at the same time. Music Magpie will pay the school for every good condition CD and DVD that they

accept. From the 4th to 8th June please bring your donations into school. We can only accept discs that are

not too scratched and that come with the original sleeve. Thank you

Summer Fayre: As you know the Summer Fayre is set for the 20th July. We are looking for local people and

business owners to kindly donate items for raffle prizes. These could be all sorts of things from crafts, experi-

ences or just something nice! If you have any ideas or know someone then please get in touch with either a

FOPS member or the School Office. Thank you.

Father’s Day: On 14th June we will be celebrating all the wonderful things about fathers by having a gift fund

raiser. Children will be able to select a gift and have it wrapped ready for the special day!

Bags 2 School: Our next Bags 2 School collection will be on 21st June so if you’re having a summer sort out,

keep the date in mind please.
