Explosive services

Perforating

Expro provides a comprehensive range ofperforating services, with gun systemsable to be deployed on electric line orusing Expro’s Slickline Depth Correlationsystem and slickline triggers for slicklineoperations.

Slickline Depth Correlation System

The Slickline Depth Correlation Systemapplies corrections to each perforating runto compensate for the various factors thataffect slickline depth. For example,wellhead pressure, surface tension,logging tension, wire length, tool lengthand tool weight are all accounted for. Thisstep change in slickline accuracy andversatility is backed up with an extensivetrack record.

Slickline memory triggers

Expro has the ability to deploy a largerange of explosive services conveyed byslickline using our Combined Trigger Unit.This has the capability of initiating allindustry standard detonators and igniters.

Stimulation

StimGun™ and the Horizontal StimulationTool™ are oxidiser-based tools designedfor near wellbore reservoir stimulation. Innew wells they can be used for pre-hydraulic frac perforating to reducehorsepower requirements during hydraulicfracturing by up to 35%. In addition,StimGun and StimTube® can dramaticallyimprove frac pack operations by openingup all the perforations in the interval priorto the pack.

Well abandonment services

A complete service is provided to enablethe abandonment of wells. This servicecan be deployed on either slickline or

electric line. In collaboration with oursuppliers, Expro can provide innovativesolutions, to offer a cost-effectivepackage to any well abandonmentproject.

Bridge plugs / packers

Expro can supply and run the full range ofindustry standard plugs, packers andpatches. These can be deployed onelectric line using standard correlatingmethods or on slickline using ourinnovative Slickline Depth CorrelationSystem to set on depth.

Tubing punches

Industry standard explosive and non-explosive tubing puncher guns areoffered that enable circulation to beachieved between tubing and annuluswithout damaging external casings. Inaddition, Expro’s unique KinleyPerforator Tool range provides slicklinesolutions for wells. The perforator canbe used to punch a single shot

circulating hole, insert a check valve ororifice to enable a cost effective solutionfor remedial gas lift operations.

Tubing cuts

Explosive or non-explosive tubing cutterscan be suppied. These are available instandard sizes to cut any size of tubingused in the oil industry. Where thesecutters are unable to access the requiredcut depth due to a mechanical restriction,Expro can provide alternative solutionsincluding special sized cutters or split shotcutters.

The ability to perform cost-effective intervention programmes is critical to ensure that performanceis optimised throughout the life of the well. Expro’s range of wireline intervention services ensuresthat the latest tools are always available and our customers are offered the optimal solutions.

Well integrity

In addition to this we can supply remedial solutions, from tubing patches, well isolation and completion retrieval, to wellhead maintenance.

SafeWells well integritymanagement software

SafeWells has been developed to providean effective well integrity managementsolution. The software monitors andreports on well integrity performance in areal-time environment, highlightingproblems and prompting remedialactions as issues arise. The software isfully customisable, to easily align withclients’ policies and procedures andprovides a clear understanding of assetintegrity to management and legislativeauthorities.

Multi-finger callipers

Expro has a wide selection of callipers tosuit every well. From microscopicmechanical callipers to 60-arm extendedmulti-finger callipers. With this capability,Expro can specify the best tool for thesurvey, ensuring optimisation of the datacollected.

Electronic callipers

Expro’s electronic callipers are capable ofbeing run in either memory or surfacereadout mode. With an unsurpassedaccuracy, the data can be quickly verified

on site and transmitted to one of Expro’sdata analysis centres (DACs). The callipertools are combinable with otherelectronic sensors, such as thicknesstools or correlating sensors.

Kinley Mechanical Calliper

Expro has the largest mechanical calliperinventory in the industry. With the toolsbeing fully mechanical, they are capableof surveying wells that are beyond thetemperature and pressure limits ofelectronic calliper tools.

Almost every well can be logged in a

single pass. Once recovered to surface,the data from the tool can be digitised inthe field and transmitted electronically toone of Expro’s DACs.

Thickness tools

The Magnetic Thickness Tool (MTT) isdesigned to investigate variations ofmetal thickness within the well. Used inconjunction with multi-finger calliper data,the MTT enables metal loss to bemonitored on the outside wall of thecasing or tubular.

Expro provides a full range of services to ensure our clients can both maintain and demonstratewell integrity. These services range from integrity surveillance, using multi-finger calipers anddownhole video cameras, to a full data analysis service and our bespoke software solution,SafeWells, to monitor and report well integrity.

Production monitoring

Production logging

Expro has established itself as the globalmarket leader in cost-effective memoryproduction logging. In addition, surface read-out PLTs are also available where Exproprovides electric line services. The on-siteacquisition services are backed up by DACswhich provide expert analysis to fit clientneeds.

Expro’s production logging strings can bedeployed via slickline, coil tubing and electricline in vertical, deviated or horizontal wells. Arange of sensors can be incorporateddepending on the client needs.

Memory gauges

Expro’s downhole memory gauges haveestablished a global reputation for reliability,providing the industry with bottom holepressure and temperature data of the highestintegrity. Expro’s downhole gauges cover acomplete range of applications including highpressure/high temperature testing at 20,000psi and 200°C, extended surveys in excess ofone-year duration and short gauges for sidepocket mandrel installations or restrictedheight rig-up applications.

Fast sampling can be achieved with largememory capacity, allowing bettercharacterisation of early-time data.

Water Investigation Tool

The Expro Water Investigation Tool combinesa downhole video camera with several loggingsensors to give a tool that is designed topinpoint hydrocarbon and water entry pointsin wells where water cuts are in excess of50%. It is especially suited for deviated wellswhere segregated flow makes fluid ingressand identification more challenging.

During the well lifecycle, production monitoring data analysis can indicate that optimum productionrequires intervention operations. These operations can improve performance of existing zones,open new un-perforated sections or isolate trouble zones.

Expro’s world-class pre-intervention modelling and analysis service assists operators to choose the most effective technique to performthe required operation, following which Expro provides a full range of services to perforate, stimulate and isolate using toolstrings thatcan be deployed on slickline or electric line.

Post job, Expro provides a production analysis service to check intervention effectiveness and help plan future/similar interventionprograms.

Video services

Expro’s market leadership in downhole video is based on technology and service. Our operators are skilled at well preparation toensure the greatest chance of successful pictures. Patented lighthead design, superior transmission rates and patented lenssurfactant ensure that we provide superior picture quality and service.

Fibre-optic camera

Real-time, full-motion downhole videoservices provided by Expro utilise a fibre-optic telemetry system that allowsdistortion-free transmission of clear,sharp video from downhole. The key tothe system is the dedicated loggingcable containing an optical fibre fortransmitting video from the downholecamera to the surface equipment overlong cable lengths.

For ‘fibre jobs’, Expro’s team will bringout their own logging truck with the fibreoptic cable.

ViewMax camera

The ViewMax tool incorporates a secondcamera in the patented backlight cameralighthead. This second camera is pointedsideways and can rotate allowingunobstructed views of the wall of thepipe or openhole formation, fractures,etc. ViewMax allows operators toacquire the traditional down view aheadof the tool and/or to view the pipe wallon the same trip in the well.

CalVid

The Expro CalVid system combines theaccuracy of an electronic multi-fingercaliper with the visual images of adownhole video camera, resulting in amore accurate representation of wellboreconditions.

CalVid allows wellbores to be measuredand visualised at the same time givingoperators a fuller understanding of thewellbore. Critical decisions regarding theirwell and production integrity can then bemade based on a complete and accurateassessment of the entire wellbore.

Slickline memory camera

The slickline memory camera enablesoperators to obtain downhole images onslickline when the cost or logistics ofmobilising an electric line unit or fibre-opticunit are prohibitive. This tool is timeprogrammable and captures 2,200images per trip and can be programmedfor three separate image intervals. Thetool has provided excellent results in adiverse set of circumstances.

High-temperature (HT) HawkEye camera

Where the survey exceeds the 257°Ftemperature rating of our standardHawkEye camera, we can deploy our21/8” OD high-temperature camerasystem. These tools utilise the sameproven technology as the standardHawkEye IV electric line system, buthave the additional flask protectionenabling them to operate in downholeenvironments up to 350°F.

Power tools

Expro’s Kinley power tools are innovativeslickline tools that are activated by asmall powder charge with none of theexplosive charge being released from thetool.

The Expro Sand Line Cutter is designedto allow the recovery of wireline, slicklineand electric line when the attached

instrument is stuck in the hole and pulling

out of the rope socket may not be

possible. It will cut any wireline up to

11/8” including control lines, drilling lines

and power cables.

The Expro Power Jar can be run on

standard slickline and delivers up to 40

times more impact compared to a

conventional slickline jar. It can be used

to:

■ knock out flapper valves, bridge

plugs, and packer ball seats

■ shift sliding sleeves

■ knock loose tool strings and chokes

■ cut tubing bull plugs

■ jar loose stuck tool strings

■ drive a spear into wire

Expro is the leading global provider of mechanical slickline services with more than 25 years ofexperience. A complete range of slickline intervention services are provided, backed up byindustry-recognised training and quality programs to ensure the highest level of personnelcompetency.

Slickline units and cables are available in a range of styles to meet customers’ needs, including Zone II rated units. Specialist units,such as heavy-duty fishing units are also available. Surface computer systems record and store well information, line history,maximum pull and depth run for each job.

Deployment

■ Base-unit - compact and fully self contained unit, suitablefor rapid deployment on onshore or offshore operations intemperate and tropical conditions. Suitable for mounting ona trailer or truck bed for heliportable operations.

■ Fly-unit - a lightweight, compact dual lift wireline unit,suitable for rapid deployment onshore and offshore intemperate and tropical conditions.

■ Slim-unit – one-piece winch unit, particularly suitable whenspace is at a premium, the operator needs an enclosedcabin and the ease of deployment is critical. The standardconfiguration comprises a self-contained power pack,control cabin and winch module.

■ Split-unit – two-piece winch unit with separate powerpack/cabin and winch module, particularly suitable when rigspace is restricted, the operator needs an enclosed cabinand you want to minimise machine movements. This unitcan be used in single or dual-drum configurations.

■ Multi-unit – one-piece wireline winch unit comprising anintegral power pack, enclosed medium or long-lengthoperator cabin and single or double-drum winch section.Unit can be transported as a single lift. The system issuitable for cased hole slickline, braided line and mono-conductor operations.

■ Multisplit-unit - two-piece unit with separate powerpack/cabin and winch module which can be transported insingle or individual lifts offering great deployment flexibility.This versatile, sophisticated, self-contained wireline winchcan be supplied in single or dual drum configuration.

■ Combi-unit - operating costs are reduced throughcombined benefits of single vehicle operations usinglightweight rugged vehicles with space for all the crew. Thecrane is rear mounted and the winch skid slews about thewinchman seat to align with the wellhead. These can beoffshore skid mounted or mounted on trucks.

■ Truck-unit - the crane and winch are mounted on a singleslewing base and the drum can be aligned with thewellhead. This truckline is a versatile well servicingworkhorse that proves its value when a remoteproduction/drilling well is visited for interventionrequirements.

■ Crane-truck - to complement our inventory, Expro offerscrane trucks with various chassis and boom configurations.The truck is available to hold the pressure control equipmentand winch within then flat bed area of the truck chassis.

Expro provides expert braided line servicesutilising experienced crews andequipment. In addition to 1/8” slickline, allequipment has Dycam cables rangingfrom 3/16” to 5/16” in size. Complete fishingtool sets are available including spring jars,hydro-mechanical jars, and accelerators.Specialised fishing tools can be built forany application.

Electric line

Electric line services are available to helpyou understand both your well and yourreservoir to optimise lifetime production.Whether you need engineered perforating,production or cased hole logging, or wellintegrity evaluation, our comprehensivecased-hole services ensure your wells willcontinue to reach their full productionpotential throughout the life of the well.

Slickline

Expro offers an extensive range of slicklineservices with innovative equipment,together with highly trained competentexperts.
