Enhancements

General

• A new Fluid Editor is available across all the modules, and replaces the original “Multiple”Fluid Editor. The new Fluid Editor has been made comprehensive to define and select different

types of fluids and cement slurries. The original “Single” Fluid Editor has been removed.

Torque & Drag

• Added a Pump Flow Rate data entry field to the Fluids Column dialog. Hydraulic pressure

drops are computed using the algorithms included in the Hydraulics module for the drill string

and annulus based on this Pump Flow Rate and the parameters entered on the Fluid Editor.

• The buckling options Curvilinear/Straight and Loading/Unloading have been removed fromthe torque-drag set-up options. The calculations choose the appropriate mode based on the

operating mode. If the pipe rotates, then the unloading ratio is used. If the pipe is static or

sliding then the loading ratio is used.

• The buckling calculations now include turn rate.

• The friction specified for Friction Reduction Devices is now relative to the wellbore friction.

This results in more flexible use of these devices when moving between wellbore sections with

different friction factors.

• The Frequency column on the Friction Reduction Devices dialog now allows more control ofthe distribution of the devices.

• A Weight of Unit data entry column has been added to the Friction Reduction Devices dialog.

This data is used to specify the weight of every device, and this weight is added to the total

string weight.

• The fluid column information entered on the Fluid Columns dialog will now move with the bit

depth in Drag Chart calculations.

• A Fatigue Graph has been added to present the string fatigue ratio for each load case.

Cementing

• A new module to analyze cementing operations has been added. This module has the

functionality of Halliburton's OptiCem cementing analysis software.

Bug Fixes

General

• Decimal and designator problem in the Regional settings have been resolved.

• Background color of the plot can now be changed.

• In Hydraulics, the incorrect reporting of Rheology model in the report has been resolved.

• Fixed problem with String Editor nozzle sizes not appearing on screen when using metric units.

• Fixed Survey import problem when using Spanish regional settings.

• Fixed Norwegian regional settings problem, which caused a crash when adding new fluids.

Hydraulics

• The tooljoint pressure loss calculation error has been fixed. The calculation takes into account

of the tooljoint length for both internal and external losses.

• Fixed various report problems.

Surge

• Label of the Multiple Operation-Transient Response plot was corrected to include the missing

word “Interest” in Depth of Interest label.

• Opening two cases simultaneously in Surge will no longer cause the results of one case to be

displayed for the other case.

• A wellbore fluid can now be selected if the Cementing box is checked in the Analysis

Parameters dialog.

• A message is displayed if the there are no operations defined when calculations are attempted.

• If last survey entry (Survey Editor) is different from the Well TD specified (Wellbore Editor)the depth in the Wellbore Editor will be used.

• When optimization of trip time is not selected the string speed should be the maximum pipe

speed.

• For Reciprocation case, the string speed will be zero, not the maximum trip speed.

Known Issues

General

• Although plots, tables, and other output forms update automatically, reports do not. Toupdate a report, you must regenerate it.

• For the new modules—Cementing, Critical Speed, and BHA Drillahead—the algorithms

and formulas used for calculations are not included in the documentation. This will be

remedied in the next release.

• There is a memory leak in WELLPLAN which occurs when a case is closed. Repeated

opening and closing of cases may cause WELLPLAN to crash. Landmark is investigating

and plans on issuing a patch as soon as a solution is found.

Hydraulics

• Repeated toggling of the Mud Temperature Effects check box (located on several input

dialogs) may cause the analysis results to be inaccurate or distorted. If this occurs, save the

Case, exit WELLPLAN, restart WELLPLAN and proceed with the analysis.

• The Eccentricity spreadsheet may not allow input of data when creating a new Case using

the Herschel Bulkley rheology model. If this occurs, open the Wellbore or String

spreadsheets, and then reopen the Eccentricity spreadsheet to enter data.

• The % Nozzle Plugged option does not affect the Hydraulics results if accessed through the

String Editor. A workaround is to use the % Nozzle Plugged for the local nozzles found on

the Parameters dialog of many of the Hydraulics modes.

Surge

• On the Operations Data dialog (Operations tab), use the Operation Type field to select from

three different operations (Surge, Swab, Reciprocation). Although this is a drop-down list,

the arrow to identify the field as a drop-down list is not visible.
