Wellesley Hills Branch Library
A charming field stone building with gabled roof, cupola, two chimneys and a large arched window, the Hills Branch Library was completed in 1928 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007. This casual and welcoming community destination has been cherished by neighborhood residents for generations.
Project Description
• The Hills Branch Library, built in 1928, currently relies only onnatural ventilation from operable windows for summer cooling.
• The Library has requested that the building be air-conditioned, asit can become unusable on very hot days.
• A cash capital appropriation was approved as part of the fiscal2020 capital planning process to fund the installation of a“ductless split” air conditioning system to provide basic cooling forthe Library.
• The project design relies on the installation of (2) four toncondensing units on the exterior of the building.
