Dear friends, As has been expressed many mes before, Lent is tradionally a me in the church cal- endar for spiritual reflecon and to take stock of our relaonship with God. Self- examinaon can be a good thing if it leads to idenficaon of things that may destroy or hinder that relaonship; if it leads to a deeper faith in, and a renewed commitment to God; and leads to new enthusiasm to follow Jesus Christ as Lord. The good thing is that we do not stay in a place of condemnaon even if we discover, through such self-examinaon, that we have fallen short of Gods call on our lives. (Isnt this all of us?) That is what the cross was all about. By his death Jesus has released us from the power of all that is wrong in our lives, and by his resurrecon has given us hope of living with him eternally. Wring in a leer to the church in Philippi, Paul recognises he has not yet been made perfect in Christ. However, his desire is to press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.(Phil 3 v 12). To do that Paul realises he has to forget what is behind- in the past - and look to what lies ahead. Interesngly Paul does not suggest that standing sll is an opon. Instead he states, I press on towards the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenwards in Christ Jesus. (Phil 3 v.14) This is good advice for us all in the power and strength of the Holy Spirit. Welcome to Wellington Methodist Church! At the top of New Street, the church seeks to serve town and people and offers good news for all. If you are here for the first time or just visiting the area you are welcome. Please feel at home and if you would like to know more about the work of the Church please ask, or fill in one of the contact leaflet sheets to join the mailing/email list. Do stay and join us for tea and coffee after the service. Dear friends, As has been expressed many times before, Lent is traditionally a time in the church cal-endar for spiritual reflection and to take stock of our relationship with God. Self-examination can be a good thing if it leads to identification of things that may destroy or hinder that relationship; if it leads to a deeper faith in, and a renewed commitment to God; and leads to new enthusiasm to follow Jesus Christ as Lord. The good thing is that we do not stay in a place of condemnation even if we discover, through such self-examination, that we have fallen short of God’s call on our lives. (Isn’t this all of us?) That is what the cross was all about. By his death Jesus has released us from the power of all that is wrong in our lives, and by his resurrection has given us hope of living with him eternally. Writing in a letter to the church in Philippi, Paul recognises he has not yet been made perfect in Christ. However, his desire is to “press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.” (Phil 3 v 12). To do that Paul realises he has to forget what is “behind” - in the past - and look to what lies ahead. Interestingly Paul does not suggest that standing still is an option. Instead he states, “I press on towards the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenwards in Christ Jesus.” (Phil 3 v.14) This is good advice for us all in the power and strength of the Holy Spirit.

Every Blessing, Diane
