Wendell Middle School Attendance Program!!!

Good Morning Wendell Middle School. Welcome to the 2013/2014 school year. Today I am going to cover the attendance program at Wendell Middle School.1GoalTo have all students on time and in school EVERY day!

Our Goal at Wendell Middle School is to have all students on time and in school everyday!2Remember its THE LAWYou must be in school, it is the LAW!

You must turn in a note within two days of the absence.

If you do not turn in a note the absence is unexcused.

Turn your notes into your homeroom teachers.

Attendance is considered mandatory. It is the law that students must attend a school. Breaking this law could result in you and/or your parents being taken to court.

Only certain absences are considered excusable. Examples of excused absences are as follows:

Illnesses or injuryMedical or dental appointments Religious observation

And dont forget you must turn in a note, to your homeroom teacher, within 2 days for the absence to be considered excused. So if you are sick and do not turn in a note it will be considered unexcused.

Program ElementsAttenDANCE!Tardy Program Sign-in and Sign-out policy

Here are some of the elements of our attendance program: The AttenDance, Our Tardy program which begins on October 29 and our sign in and sign out policy.5AttenDANCEAt the end of each quarter there will be one AttenDANCE! The first date is November 1st.This dance will be held during school hours.All students who have not had any unexcused absences or tardies during that quarter will be allowed to attend! NO OSS!

6AttenDANCEEach student has the opportunity to attend 3 dances this year! Make sure you have your parents turn in notes to excuse absences within 2 days of missing school. Turn notes into your homeroom teacher.

Sign-In and Sign-OutIf you are late to school you must come into the front office and sign in on the LobbyGuard.All notes for tardies must be turned in the box next to the LobbyGuard.

If you are here after 7:30, you are late to school and will be considered tardy to class unless the tardy is excused. Tardy notes are only considered excused if they are from a doctor, dentist, or other medical professional. 8

Tardy ProgramStarting October 29, 2013All tardies are unexcused unless you have a doctors note.If you have 4 unexcused tardies then you will be assigned to After School Detention. If you continue to have unexcused tardies then you will be assigned again to After School Detention and then to Saturday School and then to ALC. Parents will also be expected to attend a meeting at school about your tardies.

What we need from you!It is your responsibility to make sure that you are getting to school on time everyday! If you are having any problems getting to school, please let your homeroom teacher know. Please make sure that your parents know how important it is for you to be in school!
