Bursting with energy and originality, Wendy’s distinctive work brings a fresh sense of youth to fashion illustration. Her work is as playful as it is lyri-cal, yet edgy and in the now. Wendy works with many of the world’s most prestigious clients including GUESS, Selfridges, Topshop, Taschen, Nylon Magazine, Dare Magazine and Self. Her work has earned numerous grants from leading national insitutions in-cluding, the Cultural Ministry of Den-mark, The Art Foundation of Denmark and the National Bank of Denmark. Additionally, Wendy’s work has been included in the publications, Die Ge-stalten Verlag, Laurence King Publish-ing, American Illustration and Images 32 – The Best of British Illustration 2008.

Wendy received a degree in illustration from the Design School of Denmark and has always worked as an illustra-tor. She currently splits her time be-tween Copenhagen and London.

Did you always want to be an artist? Yes, I always wanted to be an artist. I also considered becoming a fashion designer or a writer as well!

Do you listen to music while you paint and if so, what music most sparks your creativity? Yes always! Music is very important for me when I work. I use it to let sentiments flow in the right direction while I work on a specific project.

Tell us about your style. Bold, detailed, pop, feminine and uncanny in an intriguing sense.

What inspired you to become an illustrator? The desire to tell visually intriguing stories.

When did you first fall in love? In kindergarten when I was around 5 years old. I fell deeply in love with a boy who wrapped insects and worms in nice little parcels for me!

If a Hollywood film were to be made about your life, who would play the lead role? Chloé Sevigny or Charlotte Gainsbourg

Describe your work environment/studio. I work in a fabulous old brewery - Carlsberg in Copenhagen. The studio itself has high ceilings and lots of natural light. It is a raw space with a charming history.

What song would you chose as the soundtrack to your life? “Let’s dance” - David Bowie.

If you were a superhero, what superpowers would you posses? I was actually named Wendy after the character in Peter Pan, so I always believed I could fly. I think flying would be such a wonderful thing to do.

If you were mythical creature, what creature would you be? A Unicorn

What is your mantra in life? “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams -Live the life you have imagined” -Thoreau.
