IMPORTANT DATES TERM 1, 2020 All events have been postponed April 8 Last day of Term 28 Students return

Proudly celebrating 133 years of continued excellence in Public Education

From the Principal..

Welcome to the end of week 8. In these uncertain times with COVID-19 I would like to thank our school community for the understanding and support shown for actions we are taking here at school. I receive daily updates and recommendations regarding school procedures and will communicate any changes we need to follow to our school community via our Skoolbag app and notes sent home.

At this point in time we have postponed all school events for the remainder of Term 1 such as:

Grandparents’ / Harmony Day assembly;

Friday assemblies;

Monday morning assemblies;

Cross country carnival;

Parent / teacher interviews until early Term 2;

The music festival rehearsal date;

Film By The Eucalypts Gala day;

Boddington Nursing Home visit although we will still organise Easter baskets for them.

All PSSA sporting events have been postponed with new dates to be notified later once they are known.

Some activities will be modified so that they are still recognised. For example, while assemblies have been cancelled, awards will still be handed out in classes. While we can’t hold an Anzac Day assembly, classes will still recognise Anzac Day within their rooms.

Teachers are currently putting together work packs which will be sent home with students in the event schools are closed. These packs will include work students will be able to do as well as educational sites for those families with reliable internet service.

At the P&C AGM on Monday evening the executive and committee member positions were elected (information attached). Two people didn't stand for re-election and whilst I wasn’t here during their time in their respective positions I would like to thank both David and Vera for everything they have done for our school community during their time. ahead with the various activities the P&C run for the benefit of our students.

Finally, I would once again like to thank our school community for the understanding and support during the past couple of weeks and for the remainder of this term. If anyone does have concerns or questions please contact me at school.

Easter Eggs for Bodington

A long-standing tradition at our school has been the annual visit by our Prefects to the residents of Bodington nursing home, to distribute Easter eggs and some good cheer. Unfortunately our prefects cannot visit them this year but to keep the tradition going a staff member will drop off the Easter baskets to them.

To help us in this regard, you are invited to donate some Easter eggs. Eggs can be handed in to the front office no later than 1 April, to allow for wrapping.

Thank you as always for supporting our local senior citizens.

Boys Cricket Team

On Friday, Wentworth Falls PS Boys Cricket team (in our new playing shirts!), ventured down to Gloria Park to play tough rivals Blaxland East Public School. Wentworth Falls under new skipper Luke were asked to bat first and lost a couple of early wickets. However a captains knock of 40 (retired) from Luke and 25 from vice-captain Josh steadied the ship. Some great contributions from Keeden, Robbie and our youngest player from Year 4 William saw us post a very competitive 118 off 25 overs. We then bowled and fielded incredibly well to restrict Blaxland East to 92 to secure the win. There were some great catches from Txai, Jake, Sam among others. And some amazing bowling from Charlie to get 4 wickets from his 3 overs, Jerry, Sam and Jake also picked up wickets in a great team effort. Our next game is scheduled vs Panania Public School sometime this year (as School Sport has been postponed).
