Try to collect every pledge card, whether the employee has made a contribution or not. It will help you keep track of how many employees need follow-up.

Some will opt to give online this year. You will receive reports for online gifts.

It Must be Easy to Make a Contribution

CFC

Page 16: We’re All In This Together – Each One – Reach One

Seek Investment, Not Charity Fund Raising is not begging. We are not asking people to give us something for nothing

When we ask for contributions to CFC, we are giving the contributors the opportunity to do something for society, for the surrounding community, but most of all, for themselves.

Keys to Fundraising

Page 17: We’re All In This Together – Each One – Reach One

Ask People to Considera Specific Amount

All prospective contributors want some guidance, the more specific the better

Suggesting to a donor “Whatever you can do”

is a recipe for failure. It implies that the organization is ambiguous about the whole enterprise

If asked, explain to a prospective donor that while any gift is appreciated, the guideline gift is the Fair Share (one hour’s pay per month)

Pledge cards are confidential - Do not share information about whether an employee has chosen to participate in the campaign, or the amount of their contribution, with their supervisor or anyone except you. If they are not able to forward cards to you immediately, they need to keep them in a secure location.

Key Workers may share department totals with supervisors.
