As an Industrial and interior designer, the challenge of collaborating, on a freelance basis, with the largest hotel groups and companies in Greece, in order to refurbish some of the best hotels in the country, apart from giving me a
notable experience in studies, supervision and construction on a large scale projects, offered me the chance to design and produce quite a few products.

Complete overhaul of communal areas (lobby—bars – restaurants), creation of new communal areas (roof garden, gym, conference hall etc.)
and renovation of the façade of this seven-floor hotel in the centre of Athens.
Besides upgrading the Grand Hotel and moving it up a category, the objective was also to redefine the hotel’s corporate identity.
The study and construction for the new Polis Art Hotel was completed within four months, while the hotel remained operative throughout.

Collaboration for the gradual upgrading of Elounda Blue Bay hotel, from category three to category one. Complete overhaul of communal areas
and creation of new facilities (gym, spa, conference hall, swimming pool, etc.), refurbishing of rooms and enhancement of surrounding area. The
result is a Boutique Hotel with a relatively low construction cost. Included in the Condé Nast Best Hotels in Greece guide for 2002.

complete redesign and rebuilding of all reception areas. creation of conference facilities. renovation of building’s exterior.
innovative redesign of the guest rooms, including the creation
of suites -by merging two or more rooms. new spaces, in a limited area were created by the use of
movable and flexible glass partitions to accommodate the specific and changing requirements of the hotel.

Exclusive collaboration with the largest hotel group in Greece. Project: to redefine its aesthetic identity in view of the new millennium, and refurbishment of several of
the best Grecotel hotels, in cooperation with the owners and the board of directors. Tasks: study, design and
supervision of crews for several projects, control-comparison of prices and coordination of the Grecotel
purchasing department. Indicative projects: Makedonia Palace in Thessaloniki,
N.J.V. Athens Plaza in Athens, Rhodos Royal in Rhodes, Creta Sun Club, Atlantis, Malia Park,

Collaboration with one of the largest hotel groups in Greece, Attikos Helios S.A. for refurbishment of the main building of Grand Resort Lagonissi one of the “Leading Hotels of the
World”. Study and supervision of construction concerned the main entrance, reception, lobby bar and outdoor areas around the main building and was successfully completed both, within
three months

The following projects are houses that ware totally reconstruct, in order to change completely the original image and function of space.
More important than decoration, was the aim to solve construction and functionality issues in the best possible way.
What makes me most proud is that, although there’s always one Werner Maritsas standard, there is never a ‘Werner maritsas style’
No two places are alike
I chose a residence in Athens, which from a gloomy 80’s, 3 bedroom apartment was transformed into a luxurious one bedroom loft and a country house in Myconos , reconstructed from the ruins of an 1890’s
peasant house.

view of Athens including the Acropolis and the Port of Piraeus designed to use as little artificial light as possible.

Full reconstruction of a 1890’s peasant house in Myconos. The aim was to create, in only 65 sq. m. a full house for a family, but also to blend the new
house perfectly to this location by using only traditional construction techniques. All the
important elements of the house, such as the old fireplaces, were restored by local workers, in the best way. The creation of a rock garden was also
essential. Project delivered in one year.
