One of the most critical aspects of history is the beginning of government funded public

school systems. Without public school systems there would be no progression in technology or

modern education. Public schooling began as an option and slowly evolved into the foundation

for the average successful American. Today public schools are the base of the ladder to higher

education. I, along with many others, require the government funded public school system to

further pursue my career and secure my financial future.

Public schooling arrived in America roughly around the same time the first settlers

arrived in 1492. At this point public schooling wasnt mandated by the government, but was

slowly escalating into an important issue. This majorly affected my life in numerous ways.

Public schooling seems to be taken for granted these days, but I realize that it may not have even

been offered to me unless the government began debating how they could help allow everyone a

productive and equal learning experience. Without the help of the government funding schools

they would be more difficult to get into and not necessarily public at all. A few key innovators of

public schooling are what make it possible for me to obtain a proper education today.

I can easily relate to the ideas and beliefs of Horace Mann. Like me, Horace Mann

believed that in order for public school systems to flourish they needed proper learning

environments and well trained teachers. Horace Mann was the founder of the State Board of

Education, which helped provide teachers with private training classes so they would be well

prepared to expand their knowledge to their students. Through time the State Board of Education

has evolved into the seemingly flawless system that we have today. This system has greatly

assisted me in my schooling career from when I was in pubic grade school, up to where I stand

    now as a college student.

Due to the pioneering endeavors of Horace Mann and the countless others who have

helped make the government a part of our school system, I am privileged to be in a safe learning

environment that offers many admirable opportunities. With the intervention by the government

in public schools, everyone has an equal chance to learn and an equal chance to succeed. This is

crucial to my college peers and I for multiple reasons. I am able to attend classes with others that

actually want to learn and would have never made it this far without the proper public education.

Using government funding educational systems I am able to build the rest of my life with an

excellent foundation. This is especially important to me because, many others in the world lack

public schooling and even where it is offered, the government provides no support.

Government funded public schooling in America paves the way for citizens to progress

and further prepare America for the next generation of students. Thanks to Horace Mann and

other innovators of education I was able to start schooling at a young age and continue learning

and preparing for the rest of my life. Utilizing key techniques and procedures that are only

obtainable through our public schools I can further pursue an excellent education and a stable

    future.
