Let’s Celebrate ABCD’s Accomplishments:• Worked with the businesses and property owners to promote business within the Cultural
District and to speak as one voice to the City of Fort Worth on issues affecting our district.
• Represent the area as the Community Development Corporation (CDC) with the City of Fort Worth responsible for reviewing and commenting on Plan Commission, Zoning Commission and Board of Adjustment cases and have been instrumental in promoting and protecting the Cultural District.
• Represent the area on City of Fort Worth initiatives such as the Commercial Corridors Committee, Mixed-Use Ordinance Committee, Mayors Task Force on Transit
• Petitioned and received 51% of the property owners’ commitment to establish the Trinity Park Urban Village and W. 7th Street Urban Village and rezoned the entire area to MU1 and MU2. Later combined the two villages into The W. 7th Urban Village.
• Worked with the City of Fort Worth to establish the Neighborhood Empowerment Zone (NEZ) and set its boundaries to encourage new development.
• Participated in the master plan developed by UNTHSC and solicited additional design funds ($450,000) to improve the plan and add design expertise.
• Provided input on the various plans submitted for the reuse of the former Fort Worth Modern Art Museum – now the ABCD supported Fort Worth Community Arts Cent
• Advocated for the entitlements needed to develop So7, Foch Street, Museum Place and West 7th and especially saving the billboard supports bent during the 2000 tornado and now proudly gracing the Museum Place Post Office.
• Worked with the City of Fort Worth to develop a Wayfinding Signage system for the Cultural District, which is now going through TxDOT to be implemented.
• Hosted and/or financially supported programs and seminars important to the District and city on issues including: Council District Candidate Forums, Sustainable Development Conferences, Transit Conference
• Hold monthly networking meetings, which promote our member businesses while also providing informative programs on city issues, development progress, or events in the area.
