Following the Year 2015 General Elections, West Coast Town Council will continue to serve residents of West Coast GRC and Pioneer Constituency, managing and maintaining the common property and open spaces of HDB flats, shops and market and food centres.

Mr Patrick Tay Teck Guan, BBM, Member of Parliament for West Coast GRC has been appointed the Chairman of the Town Council. The Vice-Chairpersons are Mr Cedric Foo Chee Keng, Member of Parliament for Pioneer Constituency, and Ms Foo Mee Har, Member of Parliament for West Coast GRC.

Mr Patrick Tay, Chairman of West Coast Town Council, said, “The Town Council will continue to engage and work with our residents to make West Coast Town a better home for all.”

BETTER HOMES FOR RESIDENTS OF CLEMENTI WEST STREET 2

NEW FaMILy-FRIENDLy HaWkER CENTRE FOR JuRONg WEST RESIDENTSThe new hawker centre at Jurong West Street 61, next to Pioneer Mall will be a popular spot for residents when it is completed. Thanks to its family-friendly amenities, children and the elderly will like the lowered seating, and parents will find the child-friendly toilets, and diaper changing and nursing room a big convenience.

The ground-breaking ceremony for the two-storey hawker centre was held on 26 Sep 2015, and was officiated by Mr Patrick Tay Teck Guan, BBM, Adviser to Boon Lay Grassroots Organisations, and Mr Cedric Foo Chee Keng, Adviser to Pioneer Grassroots Organisations.

The 2,870 square metre centre will have 600 seats, 34 cooked food stalls and 14 wet market stalls. It is expected to complete in the first half of 2017.

Families living in Block 728 to 731 in Clementi West Street 2 had given their overwhelming support to HIP, and they can look forward to better and safer homes with the Home Improvement Programme (HIP). With their decision, essential improvements will be made to their homes including repair of spalling concrete/structural cracks, replacement of cast iron waste/

soil discharge stacks, replacement of pipe sockets with new clothes drying rack and upgrading of electrical load. The full cost will be borne by the Government. Residents can also look forward to benefit from heavily-subsidized optional upgrades and Enhancement for Active Seniors (EASE) improvements. The HIP has commenced in the fourth quarter of 2015, and is expected to complete in the second quarter of 2017.

The Sinking Fund comes mainly from the S&CC. The money put aside in this fund is meant for the long-term cyclical maintenance of the blocks under the Council’s care. Work such as the replacement of lifts, roofing systems, water tanks and electrical sub-systems, repainting, major repairs and maintenance of common property and the Town Council’s share of Lift Upgrading Programmes are paid for with the money in the Sinking Fund.

Mid-autumn at PioneerAbout 3,000 participants turned up for Pioneer’s Mid-Autumn Celebration on 26 Sep 2016 for an evening of colourful festive fun. Some tried their skills at lantern-making and pomelo-peeling while others preferred the tea appreciation and acrobatic show. Adviser to Pioneer Grassroots Organisations, Mr Cedric Foo was present to soak in the festive atmosphere.

Telok BlangahReminiscing the good old daysTelok Blangah’s SG50 Carnival was a lively fiesta reminiscent of the good old days. Adviser to Telok Blangah Grassroots Organisations, Mr Lim Hng Kiang joined some 3,000 residents at the carnival held at Telok Blangah Mall on 5 Sep 2015.

2015年9月5日于直落布兰雅购物中心举行的SG50嘉年华会富有浓浓的怀旧情怀。直落布兰雅基层组织顾问林勋强先生也和3,000位居民一起参与了这场以大世界游艺场为主题的嘉年华会，同欢共乐。

A talk on nutrition and osteoporosis for seniors is most effective when the event is filled with energetic activities. About 160 residents attended the talk on 7 Nov 2015, enjoyed a lunch, went on a scenic boat ride along Clarke Quay and visited Gardens by the Bay.

约160位居民出席了于2015年11月7日举行的营养与骨质疏松症座谈会。之后，他们也享用了美味的午餐，并乘船游览克拉码头以及参观滨海湾花园。

Residents give art a new spin with Paint–a–BinBrightly-painted bins added colour and vibrancy at the Telok Blangah MRT Station and brought arts closer to the community. Launched on 27 Sep 2015, the Paint-A-Bin project encourages residents to play a part in creating a pleasant environment to live in.

五彩缤纷的彩绘垃圾桶为直落布兰雅地铁站增添了亮丽的色彩与活力，同时也把艺术带入社区。这项彩绘垃圾桶的活动让居民发挥创意，把塑胶垃圾桶装饰成艺术品，并鼓励居民携手塑造一个更宜居的社区。

Friends of West Coast

西海岸区于2015年10月31日举行的万圣节庆祝会吸引了超过300位居民参加。各项有趣的万圣节活动让全家大小一起玩乐，同时也加强居民之间的互动。西海岸基层组织顾问易华仁先生也出席了活动与居民同欢共乐。

West Coast Division distributed 300 WeCare packs containing food items and medical supplies over a three-day period in Sep 2015, to help vulnerable residents prepare for prolonged periods of haze. Adviser to West Coast Grassroots Organisations, Mr S Iswaran distributed the WeCare packs to residents.

为了帮助年长及体弱多病的居民应付烟雾的来袭，西海岸区于2015年9月份，向居民分派了300份装有食物和医疗用品的关怀礼包。西海岸基层组织顾问易华仁先生主持了分派礼包的活动。

I am writing this email as a humble note of appreciation for the quality service provided by your Town Council and your officer.

My family and I were very delighted to see new railings installed at the footpath in front of our block. This has successfully deter motorcyclists from bypassing the carpark gantry. For the first time in many years, we feel safe to use the footpath without having to worry about reckless motorcyclists knocking over us anytime. I’m very satisfied to see that West Coast Town Council really took action to show that they are genuinely looking out for their residents. Please pass on my thanks to your officer as well for taking initiative to implement measures to tackle this issue. Thank you for keeping our estate accident-free. Appreciate it! Please keep up the good work!
