Our Program Day• School day - 8:14-2:32
• Two semesters per school year
• Two 75 minute periods in the morning and two 75 minute periods in the afternoon
• Teachers use strategies that encourage hands-on, activity based learning in shop, elective and compulsory courses
• Common lunch – 10:55-11:55

What Makes WCSS Unique: Largest variety of trades programs in Peel – Students will learn
skills that will help them in their personal lives. They will also
learn skills necessary in industry
Ministry licensed childcare program servicing the
neighbourhood for children 2 ½ - 5 years old
Hospitality program (Chef Training and Baking) offers in-house
and catering services
Other Trades Programs: Hairstyling and Aesthetics,
Construction (Wood shop), Horticulture (Landscaping),
Manufacturing (metal work) and Auto Service, all provide a
variety of services to the community
Dog Day Care Program - open to students in grades 11 and
12. Students earn 3 Co-op credits and 1 Business credit
Co-operative Education – Emphasized for senior students in
their area of interest
Students are exempt from French. French is replaced by
Learning Strategies which focuses on preparing students for
life after high school. Students learn personal management
skills, e.g. time management, organizational skills, punctuality,
reliability and prioritizing. Students also learn about managing
factors that can interfere with their success e.g. emotional
stress, distractions and motivation
Smaller classes with specially trained teachers, and additional
teaching assistants

• Meet with industry professionals and have an opportunity to view demonstrations and ask questions.

Hospitality or Construction
•SHSM is a ministry-approved specialized
program that allows students to focus their
learning on a specific industry while
meeting the requirements to graduate from
secondary school. It also assists in their
transition after graduation to apprenticeship
training, college, or the workplace

Literacy and Numeracy Development
• Available to returning students who have completed their
OSSD
• For students looking to further develop their literacy and/or

optional courses to support their chosen pathway.
