West Kentucky Community & Technical College Board of Directors Minutes May 28, 2013 2 p.m. I. CALL TO ORDER – Deborah Edmonds Deborah Edmonds called the meeting to order. APPROVAL OF MINUTES March 5, 2013 A motion was made by Steve Grinnell to accept the minutes. Dr. Menendez seconded the motion. The motion was approved. III. Minutes May 28, 2013

I. CALL TO ORDER – Deborah Edmonds

Deborah Edmonds called the meeting to order. Members of the board attending were: Bruce Brockenborough, Deborah Edmonds, Shari Gholson, Steve Grinnell, Lee Jones, Larry Kelley, Dr. Shirley Menendez, and Jennifer Smith.

Others present were: Dr. Barbara Veazey, John Carrico, Susan Graves, Tammy Thompson, and Barbara Maxey.

II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES March 5, 2013 A motion was made by Steve Grinnell to accept the minutes. Dr. Menendez seconded the motion. The motion was approved.

III. PRESIDENT’S REPORT-Dr. Barbara Veazey Dr. Veazey shared a list of accomplishments (See Appendix A) for the past year in addition to the following:

Building a Student-Centered Culture in Times of Natural Disaster: A Case Study by Dr. Karen Hlinka to be published in Community College Journal of Research and Practice

Summer Holland, administrative assistant for the Advising Center, was honored as the Administrative Staff Award of Excellence recipient for KCTCS.

Exit 7, A Journal of Literature and Art, was published for the second year.

IV. CHAIR’S REPORT Ms. Edmonds stated the Aspen announcement was well received with WKCTC being in the top ten community colleges in the nation for the second year. Ms. Edmonds thanked board members for attending graduation. She also thanked the board members for returning the completed evaluation materials in a timely manner.

V. OLD BUSINESS

There was no old business.

VI. NEW BUSINESS

Susan Graves presented the 2013-2014 budget to be approved. See Appendix B. Dr. Shirley Menendez made a motion to approve the budget. Jennifer Smith. The motion passed. The board went into Executive Session to discuss Dr. Veazey’s evaluation. At the end of the Executive Session, the meeting was adjourned. The next meeting will be held on October 1, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the PJC Board Room.
