6. Rotational Post information

this post has two six month rotations within Birmingham Dental hospital which is the main base at which the post holder will be working. 6 months within the paediatric department, including rotation through the orthodontic department (1 session per week) 2 sessions / week are within the Unscheduled care department of Birmingham dental hospital 6 months in the Oral Surgery/Oral medicine department with 2 sessions /week in the Unscheduled care department

8. Additional Information about the PostThe post holder will also gain experience and work as part of a MDT for the management of children with dental anomalies. The post holder will gain experience in managing patients with complex medical histories- children and adults

In the Oral surgery rotation there is also a weekly Oral medicine Consultant led new patient clinic There is a robust clinical governance structure with department meetings usually every 6 weeks.( paediatrics) and monthly Oral surgery There is a structured audit programme within the departments Optional critical appraisal training takes place weekly at 8am prior to clinics starting and optional clinical training is once a month on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 8 am. Good working relationship with other specialities including orthodontics restorative dentistry and oral surgery and oral medicine.

10. Primary Dental ServiceThis post does not involve working in Primary Dental Care

11. Pattern of WorkingThe approximate number of treatment sessions per working week is:approx working weekConsultant clinics x2/3treatment sessions x2/3 including a dedicated consultant led trauma treatment session(paeds)Unscheduled care sessions x2

The standard working hours are:Standard working hours are 9 - 5 with morning clinic sessions starting at 9 am and afternoon sessions at 1.30 pm

There is NO on-call commitment.

12. Educational & Induction programme including Trust and library facilitiesThe Educational and Induction Programme includes:

Induction

A Trust induction will be provided. A Regional induction will be provided. Opportunities for shadowing before the post commences are subject to local negotiation. Trust induction will be provided including mandatory training such as Data Security/Fireinfection prevention

Teaching programmeDCTs are supported to attend th mandatory regional training programme (number of days vary)

Local programmeAll DCTs are allocated an Educational Supervisor on appointment with a Lead trainer/DCT Chair co ordinating this Local department induction and hands on teaching

Within the Oral Surgery rotation there is a weekly session at the Dental outreach Clinic in Birmingham City Centre Taxis are avaialble THere is a good bus service and a direct cycle pathway

Additional Information about the Post The post holder will gain experience in managing patients with complex medical histories- children and adults In the Oral surgery rotation there is also a weekly Oral medicine Consultant led new patient clinic There is a robust clinical governance structure with department meetings usually every two months.( restorative) and monthly Oral surgery There is a structured audit programme within the departments Good working relationship with other specialities including orthodontics restorative dentistry and oral surgery and oral medicine.

The UHNM trust covers 2 sites, but the DCTs are solely based in Stoke on Trent

7. Travelling Commitment

8. Additional Information about the PostUHNM is a bust level one trauma centre with a DCT on call 24-7 with a lot of experience of acute care while being covered by a tier of more senior staff grades and registrars and consultants We provide access to regular oral surgery lists for the DCT's with LA cases for extraction as well as supervised oral surgery list with our staff grades under sedation and ga. The consultant group cover a complete remit of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery Trauma Dento facial Deformity Oncology Implantology Salivary gland surgery Dento alveolar surgery There are regular in house teaching and audit afternoons. The consultant team do regular teaching ward rounds and there is a DCT led journal club on Tuesday morning. We have a close link to a restorative team and orthodontic team based in the department, who we encourage our DCT's spend time with and do audits with.

6. Rotational Post information

Princess Royal Hospital is the main base hospital and site for inpatients ward and theaters. There are some day surgery theaters that take place in Royal Shreswbury Hospital that the post holder will be expected to attend . Thee are Orthodontic joint clinics on both sites candidates can attend. In Shrewsbury there are joint Head and Neck MDT and skin cancer MDT and clinics. There is an all day Restorative clinic thjat includes implant planning and placement. A comprehensive maxillofacial laboratory with a 3 D printer is on site. Candidates will be actively encourages to attend and be a part of the team in planning and managing joint patients.

7. Travelling Commitment

The Princess Royal Hospital and Royal Shrewsbury hospital is about 25 Minutes by car. There is a train service between the two towns however the hospitals are not adjacent to the train stations.

8. Additional Information about the PostThe post holder will be exposed to the whole spectrum of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery and will gain from exposure and experience in Assessment and management of in-patients in OMFS - Treatment of patients both under General and local anesthetic - Including those requiring dento-alveolar surgery - Skin cancer and reconstruction -Oral oncology including free flap reconstruction - On call management of OMFS Trauma and infections etc -Facial deformity (Orthognathic), encouraged to attend joint clinics. -Management of patients TMJ disorders including surgery There is protected time for supervised teaching clinics and LA lists twice a month. Post holders can identify special interest and will be encouraged to see patient through clinics and carry out the procedure and arrange follow up in dedicated clinics. Protected time is provided to enable the post-holder to undertake Clinical Governance projects. Encouragement is given to presenting projects and assisting in publications. There is a monthly governance meeting encompassing audit and journal club. There is a bimonthly teaching session covering topics relevant to OMFS and DCTs are made available to attend the mandatory regional teaching programme. Candidates are actively supported to present paosters and papers in national and international meetings. There is a long history of such presentations over the past few years. The department has a well established Orthodontic dept with Consultant Restorative input as well. It will be possible to attend clinics including joint Orthognatic clinics and resotrative clinics.

11. Pattern of WorkingThe approximate number of treatment sessions per working week is:2 Consultant/ specialist doctor clinics per week. SHO supervised clinic and LA list twice a month3-5 GA theatre sessions weekly encompassing whole spectrum of OMFSprotected teaching twice a month

The standard working hours are:On call during the day to cover ward patients and A& E and nights. In line with national guidelines.

Additional Information about the PostWithin the community rotation the postholder will get exposure to and experience in the treatment and management of paediatric patients, special care patients adult and children, oral surgery and emergency dental care. There is opportunity to gain experience in inhalational and intravenous sedation as well as supervised tretament under General Anaesthetic. 8. Additional Information about the PostThe Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Unit at the University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust offers a broad spectrum of experience in OMFS. This includes: dento-alveolar surgery, oral medicine, orthognathic surgery, trauma surgery and head and neck oncology surgery. The unit has five Consultants, two Registrars, four staff grade surgeons and five dentally qualified trainees. DCTs will be integrated into the OMFS team and their duties will include: supporting outpatient clinics, A & E work, inpatient admissions, operating theatre work and participation to a day-time on-call rota (with no overnight duties). Supervised training and development extends to all areas of OMFS. There is also access to the clinical skills training and regional study day programme at the Deanery.

This post will rotate with another DCT1 rotation post. -6 Months Worcester Community Dental Service-6 Months Worcester Acute Hospitals OMFS

The post involves 6 months within Community dental services. This involves working within the various aspects of the Community service, complex special care, paediatrics, hard to reach as well as urgent care in a drop in service. It will also involve working in different clinics, domiciliary care, possibly working on the mobile unit and GA within theatre. Management of dental anxiety including various sedation options

The post offers a wide range of experiences treating patients who are vulnerable and require extra support to enable dental care to be carried out.

We are keen to help the post holder develop their skills and offer good support and supervision.

This post will rotate with another DCT1 rotation post. -6 Months Worcester Community Dental Service-6 Months Worcester Acute Hospitals OMFS

The post involves 6 months within Community dental services. This involves working within the various aspects of the Community service, complex special care, paediatrics, hard to reach as well as urgent care in a drop in service. It will also involve working in different clinics, domiciliary care, possibly working on the mobile unit and GA within theatre. Management of dental anxiety including various sedation options

The post offers a wide range of experiences treating patients who are vulnerable and require extra support to enable dental care to be carried out.

We are keen to help the post holder develop their skills and offer good support and supervision.

DCTs have a great opportunity to develop skills in dento-alveolar surgery as MOS sessions are performed by them under supervision. Experience in head and neck will be gained at New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton where all mayor reconstructive cases are done. The unit also has a strong link with orthodontics with exposure to facial deformity planning and surgical procedures. There is a Maxillofacial laboratory on site

The standard working hours are:start time 8.00 am and finish time 5 pmlong day on calls 12 hour shift ending 8 pm weekend on call 12 hour shifts

There is an on-call commitment, the pattern of which is:

6. Rotational Post information

Birmingham Dental hospital is the main base at which the post holder will be working. There are outreach clinics at the Dental Outreach clinic in the city centre 1 session/week The post is based on two six monthly rotations, with one six month incorporating sedation within oral surgery, restorative and paediatric dentistry -5 session/week , the other six months there is more focus on oral surgery The post includes a non resident on call commitment at Birmingham Childrens hospital, currently based on a 1:7 rotation (exact rota to be confirmed). This on call is for six months as there are 2 posts

The distance between BDH and BCH is 3 miles. Taxis run between the two sites There are good bus services and a direct cycle route

8. Additional Information about the PostThe post holder will gain experience in oral surgery/surgical dentistry using LA/IH and IV . The post holder will also be part of Consultant led new patient clinics in Oral surgery There is a robust clinical governance structure with monthly Governance meetings There is a structured audit programme within the Oral surgery department There are optional sedation update meetings at 8 am on a Tuesday. Pattern of WorkingThe approximate number of treatment sessions per working week is:there are 2 DCT posts within restorative dentistry and the timetables vary slightly but the weekly sessions are split across restorative. periodontics and prosthodontic clinics One post has a weekly session on the Endodontic clinicOne post has an evening clinic 5-7 on a thursday in a New patient assessment clinic ( poly clinic) with no clinical commitment in the morning2 sessions - Unscheduled care dental department

The standard working hours are:Standard working hours are 9 - 5 with morning clinic sessions starting at 9 am and afternoon sessions at 1.30 pm

There is NO on-call commitment.

Additional Information about the PostUHNM is a bust level one trauma centre with a DCT on call 24-7 with a lot of experience of acute care while being covered by a tier of more senior staff grades and registrars and consultants We provide access to regular oral surgery lists for the DCT's with LA cases for extraction as well as supervised oral surgery list with our staff grades under sedation and ga. The consultant group cover a complete remit of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery Trauma Dento facial Deformity Oncology Implantology Salivary gland surgery Dento alveolar surgery There are regular in house teaching and audit afternoons. The consultant team do regular teaching ward rounds and there is a DCT led journal club on Tuesday morning. We have a close link to a restorative team and orthodontic team based in the department, who we encourage our DCT's spend time with and do audits with.

New Cross Hospital is situated quite close to the city centre and easily approached by regular bus services from the city centre. there are regular bus services to the railway station . 6. Rotational Post information

This post offers two working sites. 4 DCTs will be based at Dudley Group of hospitals NHS Trust (DGH) (Russell Hall Hospital and Corbett Hospital) Most of the work carried out at DGH is complex dento-alveolar surgery and some components of Maxillofacial surgery such as: Orthognathic surgery, Salivary Gland Surgery, elective trauma, treatment of benign maxillo-mandibular lesions (Cystic lesions, fibro-osseous lesions, etc.) There are local anaesthetics Minor Oral Surgery (MOS) lists hat are done by the DCTs with minimal supervision and GA dento-alveolar list supervised by a middle grade and consultants. These lists provide a great opportunity to the post holder to gain lots of hands on and develop surgical skills in dento-alveolar surgery. IV sedation is also done routinely and the post holder will have the opportunity to get experience operating under sedation. If the DCT has done a recognised sedation course they will be able to complete the 20 cases required for accreditation. There is A & E cover during normal hours at Russell Hall Hospital; DCTs will be responsible for seeing patient with minor oral and maxillofacial injuries. Patients with major trauma and cervico-facial infections should be transferred to New Cross Hospital where they will receive their final emergency treatment. Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals (New Cross Hospital) offers the opportunity to get great exposure to Maxillofacial, Head and Neck, inpatient management, ward round with consultants and middle grades, management of emergencies and minor injuries in A & E, Maxillofacial trauma, treatment of Maxillofacial infections. Nights and after hours on calls are done at New Cross Hospital on a 1:8 rota shared with 4 DCT from RWH.

7. Travelling Commitment

The distance between Russell Hall Hospital and Corbett Hospital is 4.4 miles and is around 15 minutes by car. Alternatively bus number 6 runs between both hospitals every 30 minutes The post-holder will have to arrange travel to and from New Cross Hospital to home.

8. There is shadowing experience built into the local induction programme. The local Induction takes place one in Russell Hospital and one at New Cross Hospital over the first week with protected time to attend. DCT1 are not expected to cover on-call duties within the first 2 weeks

Teaching programmeDCTs are encouraged to attend the mandatory regional teaching programme through HEE. Study leave is granted in accordance with Dental Silver Guide 2018 recommendations and junior staff are encouraged to attend courses at relevant Teaching Centre

6. Rotational Post information

Princess Royal Hospital is the main base hospital and site for inpatients ward and theaters. There are some day surgery theaters that take place in Royal Shreswbury Hospital that the post holder will be expected to attend . Thee are Orthodontic joint clinics on both sites candidates can attend. In Shrewsbury there are joint Head and Neck MDT and skin cancer MDT and clinics. There is an all day Restorative clinic thjat includes implant planning and placement. A comprehensive maxillofacial laboratory with a 3 D printer is on site. Candidates will be actively encourages to attend and be a part of the team in planning and managing joint patients.

7. Travelling Commitment

The Princess Royal Hospital and Royal Shrewsbury hospital is about 25 Minutes by car. There is a train service between the two towns however the hospitals are not adjacent to the train stations.

Additional Information about the PostThe post holder will be exposed to the whole spectrum of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery and will gain from exposure and experience in Assessment and management of in-patients in OMFS - Treatment of patients both under General and local anesthetic - Including those requiring dento-alveolar surgery - Skin cancer and reconstruction -Oral oncology including free flap reconstruction - On call management of OMFS Trauma and infections etc -Facial deformity (Orthognathic), encouraged to attend joint clinics. -Management of patients TMJ disorders including surgery There is protected time for supervised teaching clinics and LA lists twice a month. Post holders can identify special interest and will be encouraged to see patient through clinics and carry out the procedure and arrange follow up in dedicated clinics. Protected time is provided to enable the post-holder to undertake Clinical Governance projects. Encouragement is given to presenting projects and assisting in publications. There is a monthly governance meeting encompassing audit and journal club. There is a bimonthly teaching session covering topics relevant to OMFS and DCTs are made available to attend the mandatory regional teaching programme. Candidates are actively supported to present paosters and papers in national and international meetings. There is a long history of such presentations over the past few years. The department has a well established Orthodontic dept with Consultant Restorative input as well. It will be possible to attend clinics including joint Orthognatic clinics and resotrative clinics.

8. Additional Information about the PostThe expertise available at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Oral & Maxillofacial Department covers all aspects of the specialty. In addition to managing general OMFS referrals, it is the regional and supra-regional tertiary referral center for Head & Neck Oncology, Deformity, Cranio-facial, Trauma, TMJ, Vascular and Salivary surgery, with close collaboration with the Birmingham Dental Hospital and University of Birmingham Medical School. This training post, whilst offering a unique opportunity for a DCT to a broad range of clinical exposure, is challenging and exciting in a supportive environment focused on the trainee developing further their professional competence and career aspirations.

8. Additional Information about the PostThe Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Unit at the University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust offers a broad spectrum of experience in OMFS. This includes: dento-alveolar surgery, oral medicine, orthognathic surgery, trauma surgery and head and neck oncology surgery. The unit has five Consultants, two Registrars, four staff grade surgeons and five dentally qualified trainees. DCTs will be integrated into the OMFS team and their duties will include: supporting outpatient clinics, A & E work, inpatient admissions, operating theatre work and participation to a day-time on-call rota (with no overnight duties). Supervised training and development extends to all areas of OMFS. There is also access to the clinical skills training and regional study day programme at the Deanery.

The post involves 6 months within Community dental services. This involves working within the various aspects of the Community service, complex special care, paediatrics, hard to reach as well as urgent care in a drop in service. It will also involve working in different clinics, domiciliary care, possibly working on the mobile unit and GA within theatre. Management of dental anxiety including various sedation options

The post offers a wide range of experiences treating patients who are vulnerable and require extra support to enable dental care to be carried out.

We are keen to help the post holder develop their skills and offer good support and supervision.

6. Rotational Post information

This is a one year post based at Birmingham Children's Hospital 6 months paediatric Maxillofacial surgery and 6 months paediatric dentistry with an oncall commitment for the 1 year post. This is a non resident oncall but the DCT is expected to live within 20 minutes of the hospital. In the paediatric dentistry rotation there will be a clinic based at Birmingham Dental Hospital in the paediatric dental department.

7. Travelling Commitment

The distance between the Dental Hospital and Birmingham Children's Hospital is 30 mins by car depending on traffic. There is a good public bus service from both sites.

8. Additional Information about the PostIt is essential that the DCT3 must have had a least one years experience of an oral and maxillofacial post with on-call to be appointed. The DCT3 will be encouraged to gain the necessary competencies to manage simple OMFS trauma (eg lip lacerations) independantly under general anaesthesia.

11. Pattern of WorkingThe approximate number of treatment sessions per working week is:There are two treatment sessions 1 - 2 theatre lists 2 - 3 new patient review or specialist MDT clinics eg Cleft, Craniofacial, Haematology, Oral Medicine & Jaw Deformity

The standard working hours are:The standard working week is from 8.30am to 4.30pm. On a Thursday/Friday(alternate) which is a theatre day the DCT would be expected to be in at 8.00am. The working week complies with the Junior Doctors 2019 contract.

There is an on-call commitment, the pattern of which is:

The details are:Currently the on-call is shared between 7 and is non-resident (need to be within 20 mins of the hospital ). There is always a OMFS ST3-7 on-call for advice / supervision. The 2nd on call is generally based at Unuversity Hospitals Birmingham - QE but during the week they may be at Birmingham Childrens Hopsital during the day, depending on timetabling and staffing levels.

Teaching programmeDCTS are encouraged to attend the mandatory regional teaching programme through the West Midlands HEE. Study leave is granted in accordance with the Dental Silver guide 2018 and is subject to the ES approval.

Local programmeThe DCT3 will be allocated an Educational Supervisor upon appointment. There are 3 monthly governance meetings/ departmental meetings weekly huddle meetings. Attendance at the weekly ground teaching is encouraged.

Other opportunitiesThe DCTs are encourage to undertake department audit and present case based discussions with in the hospital. Teaching opportunities also arise across the trust.

Local facilitiesThere is a library avaliable at BCH. There is no designated office space but there is shared office space avaliable in the admin block of BCH.

Other facilitiesThere is a canteen in hours and out of hours vending machines for food. There are local supermarkets open late around the hospital. The doctors mess has been newly refurbished. There is oncall accommodation but this needs to be self funded

6. Rotational Post information

Birmingham Dental hospital is the main base at which the post holder will be working. There are outreach clinics at the Dental Outreach clinic in the city centre 1 session/week The post is based on two six monthly rotations, rotation one six month incorporating sedation within oral surgery, restorative and paediatric dentistry -5 session/week , rotation two the focus is split between oral surgery(including sedation) and oral medicine The post includes a non resident on call commitment at Birmingham Childrens hospital, currently based on a 1:7 rotation (exact rota to be confirmed). This on call is for the full year the exact rota is to be confirmed.

The distance between BDH and BCH is 3 miles. Taxis run between the two sites There are good bus services and a direct cycle route

8. Additional Information about the PostThe post holder will gain experience in oral surgery/surgical dentistry using LA/IH and IV . The post holder will also be part of Consultant led new patient clinics in Oral surgery and Oral medicine There is a robust clinical governance structure with monthly Governance meetings There is a structured audit programme within the Oral surgery department There are optional sedation update meetings at 8 am on a Tuesday. Good working relationship with other specialities including orthodontics, restorative dentistry, paediatrics and oral medicine For the on call commitment clinics are modified to allow for travelling

3 DCT 1/2 jobs based at New Cross Hospital and has regular duties at Russell's Hall Hospital Dudley 2 DCT1/2 job rotates between the Community Dental Services and the New Cross Hospital (6 months each) No on call with this job during community placement.

New Cross Hospital is situated quite close to the city centre and easily approached by regular bus services from the city centre. there are regular bus services to the railway station . As there is need to travel to Dudley car is desirable. There are salary sacrifice schemes available in Royal Wolverhampton Hospital.

Opportunities available to attend multidisciplinary clinics for oncology and orthognathic patients. Additional Information about the PostUHNM is a bust level one trauma centre with a DCT on call 24-7 with a lot of experience of acute care while being covered by a tier of more senior staff grades and registrars and consultants We provide access to regular oral surgery lists for the DCT's with LA cases for extraction as well as supervised oral surgery list with our staff grades under sedation and ga. The consultant group cover a complete remit of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery Trauma Dento facial Deformity Oncology Implantology Salivary gland surgery Dento alveolar surgery There are regular in house teaching and audit afternoons. The consultant team do regular teaching ward rounds and there is a DCT led journal club on Tuesday morning. We have a close link to a restorative team and orthodontic team based in the department, who we encourage our DCT's spend time with and do audits with.

6. Rotational Post information

This post offers two working sites. 4 DCTs will be based at Dudley Group of hospitals NHS Trust (DGH) (Russell Hall Hospital and Corbett Hospital) Most of the work carried out at DGH is complex dento-alveolar surgery and some components of Maxillofacial surgery such as: Orthognathic surgery, Salivary Gland Surgery, elective trauma, treatment of benign maxillo-mandibular lesions (Cystic lesions, fibro-osseous lesions, etc.) There are local anaesthetics Minor Oral Surgery (MOS) lists hat are done by the DCTs with minimal supervision and GA dento-alveolar list supervised by a middle grade and consultants. These lists provide a great opportunity to the post holder to gain lots of hands on and develop surgical skills in dento-alveolar surgery. IV sedation is also done routinely and the post holder will have the opportunity to get experience operating under sedation. If the DCT has done a recognised sedation course they will be able to complete the 20 cases required for accreditation. There is A & E cover during normal hours at Russell Hall Hospital; DCTs will be responsible for seeing patient with minor oral and maxillofacial injuries. Patients with major trauma and cervico-facial infections should be transferred to New Cross Hospital where they will receive their final emergency treatment. Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals (New Cross Hospital) offers the opportunity to get great exposure to Maxillofacial, Head and Neck, inpatient management, ward round with consultants and middle grades, management of emergencies and minor injuries in A & E, Maxillofacial trauma, treatment of Maxillofacial infections. Nights and after hours on calls are done at New Cross Hospital on a 1:8 rota shared with 4 DCT from RWH.

7. Travelling Commitment

The distance between Russell Hall Hospital and Corbett Hospital is 4.4 miles and is around 15 minutes by car. Alternatively bus number 6 runs between both hospitals every 30 minutes The post-holder will have to arrange travel to and from New Cross Hospital to home.

The local Induction takes place one in Russell Hospital and one at New Cross Hospital over the first week with protected time to attend. DCT1 are not expected to cover on-call duties within the first 2 weeks

Teaching programmeDCTs are encouraged to attend the mandatory regional teaching programme through HEE. Study leave is granted in accordance with Dental Silver Guide 2018 recommendations and junior staff are encouraged to attend courses at relevant Teaching Centre

6. Rotational Post information

Princess Royal Hospital is the main base hospital and site for inpatients ward and theaters. There are some day surgery theaters that take place in Royal Shreswbury Hospital that the post holder will be expected to attend . Thee are Orthodontic joint clinics on both sites candidates can attend. In Shrewsbury there are joint Head and Neck MDT and skin cancer MDT and clinics. There is an all day Restorative clinic thjat includes implant planning and placement. A comprehensive maxillofacial laboratory with a 3 D printer is on site. Candidates will be actively encourages to attend and be a part of the team in planning and managing joint patients.

7. Travelling Commitment

The Princess Royal Hospital and Royal Shrewsbury hospital is about 25 Minutes by car. There is a train service between the two towns however the hospitals are not adjacent to the train stations.

Additional Information about the PostThe post holder will be exposed to the whole spectrum of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery and will gain from exposure and experience in Assessment and management of in-patients in OMFS - Treatment of patients both under General and local anesthetic - Including those requiring dento-alveolar surgery - Skin cancer and reconstruction -Oral oncology including free flap reconstruction - On call management of OMFS Trauma and infections etc -Facial deformity (Orthognathic), encouraged to attend joint clinics. -Management of patients TMJ disorders including surgery There is protected time for supervised teaching clinics and LA lists twice a month. Post holders can identify special interest and will be encouraged to see patient through clinics and carry out the procedure and arrange follow up in dedicated clinics. Protected time is provided to enable the post-holder to undertake Clinical Governance projects. Encouragement is given to presenting projects and assisting in publications. There is a monthly governance meeting encompassing audit and journal club. There is a bimonthly teaching session covering topics relevant to OMFS and DCTs are made available to attend the mandatory regional teaching programme. Candidates are actively supported to present paosters and papers in national and international meetings. There is a long history of such presentations over the past few years. The department has a well established Orthodontic dept with Consultant Restorative input as well. It will be possible to attend clinics including joint Orthognatic clinics and resotrative clinics.

The local teaching programme is provided with 2 teaching sessions per month on topics related to Maxillofacial surgery, Oral surgery/Medicine and other specialties pertinent to OMFS. Training is individualized to benefit the trainee.

8. Additional Information about the PostThe expertise available at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Oral & Maxillofacial Department covers all aspects of the specialty. In addition to managing general OMFS referrals, it is the regional and supra-regional tertiary referral center for Head & Neck Oncology, Deformity, Cranio-facial, Trauma, TMJ, Vascular and Salivary surgery, with close collaboration with the Birmingham Dental Hospital and University of Birmingham Medical School. This training post, whilst offering a unique opportunity for a DCT to a broad range of clinical exposure, is challenging and exciting in a supportive environment focused on the trainee developing further their professional competence and career aspirations.

8. Additional Information about the PostThe Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Unit at the University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust offers a broad spectrum of experience in OMFS. This includes: dento-alveolar surgery, oral medicine, orthognathic surgery, trauma surgery and head and neck oncology surgery. The unit has five Consultants, two Registrars, four staff grade surgeons and five dentally qualified trainees. DCTs will be integrated into the OMFS team and their duties will include: supporting outpatient clinics, A & E work, inpatient admissions, operating theatre work and participation to a day-time on-call rota (with no overnight duties). Supervised training and development extends to all areas of OMFS. There is also access to the clinical skills training and regional study day programme at the Deanery.

This post will rotate with another DCT1 rotation post. -6 Months Worcester Community Dental Service-6 Months Worcester Acute Hospitals OMFS

The post involves 6 months within Community dental services. This involves working within the various aspects of the Community service, complex special care, paediatrics, hard to reach as well as urgent care in a drop in service. It will also involve working in different clinics, domiciliary care, possibly working on the mobile unit and GA within theatre. Management of dental anxiety including various sedation options

The post offers a wide range of experiences treating patients who are vulnerable and require extra support to enable dental care to be carried out.

We are keen to help the post holder develop their skills and offer good support and supervision.
