We spoke to Carly Peters, owner and driving force behind Bee a Bug. We started by asking her to explain what it’s all about.“Bee a Bug is an exciting new 5's and under children's soft play area and coee shop opening in Westbourne”, says Carly. “You can enjoy lunch from our delicious coee shop menu whilst your little ones explore the exciting bespoke 3 level soft play adventure zone! With our beautifully decorated creature themed hall, you can kick back and read the latest magazines or newspapers.”

But there is more to the impressive complex than just a play area and coee

shop says Carly, “We have a hair salon for kids (8’s and under) and for dads. There are weekly classes for older kids (up to 11) and classes for adults such

as yoga for pregnancy mums and even a cup cake making masterclass.”

“I believe it is exactly what Westbourne needs”, explains Carly when asked why she set up Bee a Bug“. “Being a mum myself, I saw the need for a West-bourne based, child friendly coee shop with good facilities and fully child friendly amenities”. Carly’s daughter, Lola, 2½, will be chief tester of all the new equipment being installed ready for the launch in August.

The Bee A Bug Beetle

The Grand Opening is on Thursday 5th August from 11am to 3pm and everyone is invited to come and check out the facilities. Welcome to the August Book Review. I hope that we are still enjoying a balmy summer, although who knows what may have happened between now and the magazine going to print! Either way, we are now well into the school holidays so I have given you some suggestions to keep the kids occupied and postpone the inevitable cries of “I’m bored” this early in the holidays.

In anticipation of the usual British Summer, and the need for indoor activities, we have recently received our new selection of jigsaws and wooden games from Gibsons. These include new 250 piece National Gallery Masterpieces, a new 636 piece called Cunarder and a new 1000 piece called Summer of 1940 featuring Battle of Britain Aircraft. Shut the Box, Backgammon and Solitaire are also now in stock.

For those of you who like to get ahead we also have most of our local Salmon Calendars in stock. There are some new scenes in Dorset Landscapes £6.99 and a completely new design of Vintage Sporting Posters £6.99 that may even outsell Extraordinary Chickens £9.99.

13 13 13 13 13 13 13 13 13 13 13 13 13 13 13Welcome to the August Book Review.

Westbourne Librarywe get a sneaky peek at the new look Library

The Westbourne Library has been closed for most of July to allow major refurbishments to be undertaken.

We spoke to Vicki Goldie, area manager for Bournemouth Libraries, about the work being carried out and what people can expect from their new library.“The building is having a complete make-over, all of the walls are being painted, there is new carpet being laid and brand new shelves, tables and chairs. The existing carpet was over 20 years

old!”, explains Vicki. We asked what it means for the library sta and users to have such a large investment in the facility, “It’s fantastic for the sta, to have a library they’re proud of and that they want to promote to the local community.”It’s not just about the fabric of the building, there will be new and improved book stock across all areas and there will be a new seating/reading area on the left making use of natural light from the large windows.

See more photos from the refurbishments and thenewly nished Library at www.westbourne.info
