Westbourne Newslocal news from in and around Westbourne Nov & DecWestbourne Christmas FairAs the number of shopping days to Christmas count down, Westbourne is getting in the festive mood with window displays taking shape and fairy lights going up (now where are those spare bulbs?). The annual Westbourne Christmas Fair is going to be a HUGE aair this year and takes place on Saturday 1st December. Landseer Road will be closed to trac for a farmers market with all manner of stalls to help you stock up for Christmas. will enter into a bar with a mezzanine complete with a live pianist. Service will be from 10am until late and customers will be welcome for coees, drinks, lunch or dinner.

DID YOU KNOW?The ‘castle’ on our cover is in fact a Gothic style Victorian water tower. It used to provide water for a fountain and was fed, in turn by a pump driven by a water wheel from the nearby river Bourne. Walk along the Upper Gardens to nd it for yourself.

New on The High StreetWestbourne’s new businesses and shops

The ever changing mix of shops, cafés, restaurants and other businesses in Westbourne continues to evolve and the overall occupancy rate still bucks the national trend, with very few empty units on the high street. Shops that have opened recently and that are due to open include a craft store in the Arcade, a new Indian take-away on Seamoor Road and Spar has had a make-over as ‘Central and Beer Cellar’. Two empty units in the Arcade are currently being worked on and are due to open soon, one as an art gallery/sales and another called La-de-da selling home accessories, vintage collectables and hand made produce. Tigerlilly is due to open in the Grand Cinema buildings and becomes the rst shop visitors come across travelling from Bournemouth. We’re excited to see Rock restaurant (page 4) in the old Methodist church and the Hogshead is soon to re-open as ‘The Libertine’ oering ne dining, after a complete refurbishment.
