Shoppers making their way into Westbourne and looking for that elusive parking space now have a little more guidance. Recently installed electronic signs on Poole Road and Seamoor Road indicate how many available parking spaces there are in Alumhurst Road, Landseer Road and Milburn Road car parks. So far we’ve only seen them say “Test” but think they will be a useful addition to the area.

Make new friends and do something dierent!discover the Argyll Bowling Club

Perhaps you’ve just moved to the area or you’ve just retired and are looking for something to help ll your days. Why not visit the Argyll Bowling Club, where you’ll be made very welcome. People of all ages are welcome!

Where is the Argyll Bowling Club? Well, that’s another pleasant surprise in store for you. They have a stunning location on West Overcli Drive, above Alum Chine and the Tropical Gardens. You don’t have to be a bowler but having sampled the friendly atmosphere and excellent facilities you may like to try.

We spoke to Sylvia Nagarkar who told us, “We will be having open days on Sundays 5th May and 9th June when anyone can come along and have a go for free. We’ll be happy to give you all the help needed to get you started and supply the bowls and shoes. Of course if you’re already a bowler you’ll be even more welcome! There’s nothing guaranteed to lift the spirits like a game of bowls on a lovely summer’s day. If you don’t believe me, come along and see for yourself.”

“You could visit the Cafe Argyll, which is open to the public, oers a wide range of light snacks and meals and also has a bar, and talk to some of our members. We’re looking for new members, especially ladies, so hope to see you soon!”

Summer Sudoku & Three Brain Teasers

Rather than numbers 1 to 9, in this Sudoku puzzle you have to ll in the letters S U N B A T H E R in the grid below. Tricky!

Just for fun...1) Johnny’s mother had three children. The first child was named April. The second child was named May. What was the third child’s name?

2) Patrick at the butchers shop is five feet ten inches tall and wears size 13 boots. What does he weigh?

3) In Hampshire you cannot take a picture of a blind man with a wooden leg. Why not?

1) Johnny.

2) He weighs meat.

3) You can’t take a photo with a wooden leg!

Reecting on Reexology Ann Runyard Explains All

Surprise! They say a change is as good as a rest, so I thought I would bend your ear to the benets of another holistic therapy, Reexology. The premise is, that there are tiny reex areas in the feet, and hands that link up with ten energy lines in the body which are related to all the major organs. By massaging these reexes, a stimulus travels up the energy line and through any organ lying in that pathway. The goal is to trigger the self healing mechanism within the body to rebalance and retune. It dates back some 5000 years and like most ancient therapies got lost in the passage of time. It was resurrected in the 1930’s by an Ear, Nose and Throat surgeon- Dr William Fitzgerald- who discovered, that by tying ligatures around each nger, he could locally anaesthetize the head and face, which allowed him to do minor ENT surgery without drugs. Imagine that in the 1930’s! The Mother of Reexology, Eunice Ingham, a physiotherapist and midwife who worked with Fitzgerald, pioneered the technique and it is her original method which has been the foundation for training today.

The extensive research into spinal cord injuries over the past twenty years has given this holistic therapy much credence and is widely accepted in the medical profession today. I believe it to be an eective way in treating many stress related conditions like insomnia, lethargy, hyperactivity, muscular aches & pains, minor skin problems, asthma, and digestive and hormonal problems.Contact Ann to see how reexology can help you, call 01202 760492.Email: [email protected]: www.annrunyard.co.uk
