Rice, lentils and pasta.
Natural objects such as leaves.
Exercise balls and textured mats.
In addition to the play provided within class we also have a Sensory room on site that can be
accessed by all classes. The room includes many interactive features such as interactive
flooring, light curtains and bubble tubes.
SOCIAL COMMUNICATION (SULP) KEY STAGE 1 AND 2
AIMS
Enables children to communicate more effectively
To build up confidence and self esteem
To understand happy, sad and angry
To be more caring, sharing and happy being around others
To improve attention and listening skills
To make choices and become independent
To nurture their ideas
Social Communication Programme is based on S.U.L.P – Social Use of Language
Programme.
All classes have a SULP lesson every week.
The main body of Social Communication is to improve communication skills of children.
It encourages communication with each other and with adults. This improves skills such
as:
Learning and retaining their peers names Playing within a group
Communicating when they are sad, happy.
Being able to cope around others when they are angry Communicating problems
(illness, when they are hurt etc.)
We work at a very practical level that is exciting, challenging and visual. Some children
have very poor retention so the teaching is to be repetitive so that the children can take
the skills they have been taught right through to adulthood.
