PRESIDENTS REPORT
Hi All ,
Time for another report.
Not too much has been happening lately. So not too much to report on .
We had a meeting recently which went well and we have amended some of our Constitution and rules to
keep up with the times. We also have a new scale of fees which are on the website.
Deborah and Peter Allen (Vic) are the judges for the State Championships in November. Two days, two
judges and two rings should help fix the problems from the last state championships. Deborah is listed as an
Open judge with the Horse Show Association of Australia and her husband Peter is a qualified harness
judge. There has been suggestion that we expand the harness program and have an open section to make it
more worthwhile for our members. If you have any ideas or suggestions for this years State Championships
please contact either myself or a committee member as that is what we are there for.
There are some good things coming up as well. One of which is The Perth Royal Show. So don't forget to
put all those entries in. It was a great turnout last year and would be better to have even more out there
showing off WABA buckskins. Another thing is that it will be foaling season very soon as well, and good
luck to all those expecting the patter of little hooves around. I hope everything goes well for everybody and
we all get nice healthy babies.
Bye for now, Darren.

Western Australian Buckskin Association Inc. Annual GENERAL MEETING - NOTICE
Saturday 28 July 2012 1PM 48 John St Henley Brook
Please note any nominations need to be lodge with the Secretary 1 week before AGM.
and note new regulations in relation to ‘notices of motion’ to change regulations. Refer clause 46-49 in the
revised Regulations for both registry's - copy in newsletter & on websites.
Please bring a plate for afternoon tea.
To the President, Mr. Darren Hunt, Committee and Members of the Western Australian Buckskin Association. Please accept my sincere apologies for not sending this letter of thanks to you earlier. I wish to thank the Committee for asking me to judge your Titles in November last year, and to the committee of the W.A. Buckskin Assoc. for putting on a great show. I was very impressed with the venue and could only wish that we had the same facilities available to us in Victo-ria. I was so impressed with the number of horse and ponies that turned out for this show and feel that your committee is doing everything right in promoting your Association within W.A. The number of entries nearly surpassed the number of entries that we get in Victoria at our own Titles, but I am sure we didn’t do it in the short amount of time in which you did. I would like to congratulate you, the exhibitors, on the attention to detail in which you turned your horses and ponies out and how well mannered your animals were in the ring. This is a result of the amount of time and effort you are prepared to put in to achieve the result that you strive for. I also appreciated the manner in which you all showed your animals and the way you were all prepared to help each other out on the day, and in the way you all were willing to help me out on what turned out to be a very big day. I appreciate that not everyone would have agreed with my discussions on the day but you must realize that they were my choices and I felt that these horse could hold their own at any state titles in any state. My only disappointment was the lack of children showing, as, after all, these are the future of any Society and can only hope that you are able to encourage more youngsters to take part in what can only be a rewarding experience. The trip over to W.A. was a great experience and I can see why people say that Perth is the loveliest place in Aus-tralia. My daughter played tourist guide and took me too many places but left me wishing to see more. Maybe I will be able to come over again in the near future and catch up with you all and see what progress you have made. Once again thank you for making my time in W.A. very enjoyable. FROM THE RAS re: entries Can you please make all your members aware that entries close at 4.00pm on Friday the 15th June. Can you also highlight the fact that if an Exhibit is entered as “pending”, due to the sale of the exhibit or the initial foal registration must be com-pleted, all Exhibits must be able to forward a copy of the Registration Certificate, showing all the correct details, to the RAS No later than the 17th August 2012, otherwise the entry will be returned. This is most important with new foal registrations that may be forwarded to the Breed Society office after the close of en-tries. It would be a shame for anyone to miss out on showing their pride and joy, due to an oversight in paperwork. Regards

From the Secretary
It has been a very busy time since the Shades of Summer Show-off in February. The steps required
to introduce and have approved our new Rules of Association (Constitution) have now been
completed and the new Rules of Association take effect from the 17 May 2012. This means our
financial year now runs from 1 July to 30 June and effectively this gives all members one extra
month membership. Thanks to all the members who had some input.
The Regulations have also been updated for both WABA & CPRWA and are available on the
webpage. They are not in print yet but anyone wanting a copy just let me know. It is great to see
some feedback and involvement from our members, remembering the committee are there to work
through any problems that may arise, as a result some new regulations have been introduced.
Points score system will now run to the end of June, but if you have finished showing for this
season get the sheets into our Point Coordinator Donna ASAP so she is not run of her feet at the
last moment. Please use a separate sheets for different sections. This is the last year for most of
the WABA perpetual trophies and the will go to the members who’s horse has won them the most
in the trophy life.
There is a new perpetual annual trophy for Cremello/Perlino most points over all. The points
system for them is up on the CPRWA website: www.cprwa.webs.com and can be found in the
Regulations. Use the WABA points sheet.
If you are not aware yet the Supreme sash for Buckskin/Dun is back at this years Royal due to
the efforts of our members entering the last royal.
Special thanks to those members who have contributed either to the WABA or directly to the RAS
for sponsorship of this years Royal, especially: Donna Newton Garlands, She-oak
Quarterhorses and Tandarra Stud.
All the classes at this years royal for both Buckskin/Dun and Cremello/Perlino are fully sponsored
including best presented prize money and garlands for major awards.
Good luck to everyone and remember to get your entries in by 4pm Friday 15 June.
Kind Regards, WABA Secretary Sue Davey

Below some of the recent Regulation updates and changes for 2011/12. Impartiality with selection of judges. 43 Impartiality is the key to good judging and it is very difficult for anyone to judge fairly without some bias toward a friend or associate. (a) Committee are to make every effort to chose judges for Association shows who are impartial in relation to the competitors and horses being exhibited. An association with a judge would include being coached by that person or having purchased the horse being shown from that person. (b) Competitor’ s who are friends with or have an association with the judge should divulge that information to the committee ASAP so a new judge can be selected. (c) Unless in an emergency situation the Committee members are not permitted to judge at association shows. (d) If you believe you fall into this category at a show it is up to the competitor to do the right thing. If the judge doesn’t know the animal being exhibited then someone not associated with the judge should exhibit that animal.
Colour Classes at Shows
44 (a) Colour classes at association shows will be split into specific colours where suited, example: Cream to Typical Buckskin, Buckskin/Dun (carrying both Cream and dun gene), Brown to Black Buckskin. If your horse has not had specific colour test to determine it exact colour you may be moved to a different colour class at the discretion of the Show Secretary. This may be required with older registrations where colour may not have been classified correctly
(b) Colour classes at other shows:
(a) Buckskin colour class is for those horses that carry the cream gene only.
(b) Dun Factor class is for any dun registered weather they carry the cream gene or not.
Photos at shows
45 Any member has the right to take photo’s of horses at shows but no member has the right to sell or
distribute those photo’s for profit without the express permission of the association. No member can enter the judging ring to take photo’s without first getting permission from the Show Secretary and the Official Photographer if one is present.
Regulations of the Association
46 The regulations, also known as by laws, themselves are not part of the rules of association that are subject to the Western Australian, Department of Commerce, Associations Incorporation Act 1987.
(a) the regulations bind every member and the Association to the same extent and upon becoming a member, each member agreed to be bound by all their provisions.
Altering the Regulations
47 The Management Committee shall have the power to make, alter and rescind any Regulation (by law) that it considers necessary for the effective administration of the association, provided that no by-law may be inconsistent with the rules of the association.
48 Ordinary financial members may submit to the Secretary a ‘notice of motion’ to make, alter and rescind any regulation.
(a) Notices of motion submitted by members must be received by the secretary by the end of the financial year.
(b) Notices of motion will be tabled at the next Annual General Meeting.
49 No motion, the effect of which, if carried, would alter and rescind any regulation previously passed at any meeting held during the same financial year shall be entertained unless notice of intention to move the same shall be given to the Secretary at least (21) twenty-one days prior to the holding of the meeting at which it is proposed to move such motion.

The WABA have been asked via National
Buckskin Society to supply names of 2 judges
for RAS Victoria. This has highlighted the
problem of a lack of ‘accredited’ judges in WA.
and prompted calls for the WA based registry’s
to get together and accredit judges. ?????
