Why choose us?Western Wild Expeditions, operated by Kimberley Wild Expeditions, are the best in the west. Our Western Expeditions explore the highlights (and a few secrets!) of the West Coast, the Pilbara, the Kimberley and beyond. Our travellers enjoy the freedom to 'choose their own adventure' in our clean, comfortable vehicles (with built in storage and standing room). Offering a wide range of itineraries, we are the best choice for those looking to experience the real Australian outback. Tourism AccreditationKimberley Wild is accredited with the Australian Tourism Accreditation Program. This assures you that we are committed to providing top quality tour service – reliable, professional and responsible. For more details on this accreditation, visit trustthetick.com.au.Award-winning CompanyIn 2011, Kimberley Wild entered the West Australian Tourism Council's Hall of Fame after being recognised as Best Tour Operator in the WA Tourism Awards, for three years running. This accolade acknowledges the quality of our 4WD touring product and highlights our commitment to protecting the fragile environment and respecting traditional culture. More recently, we were thrilled to be awarded Bronze in the 2014 Best Major Tour Operator category – our first time in the 'Major' category.

Our TravellersOur travellers are young (and young at heart!), share a sense of adventure and thrive on the grass roots travel style that only Western Wild can provide. They want to experience the Australian outback for themselves with a fun group of like-minded travellers, not watch it pass by through the window.

Our GuidesWith extensive experience in the Australian outback, our professional guides are experts in local culture, history and environment. They hold current First Aid Certificates and are endorsed by the Australian government to carry paying travellers, so you have a safe, enjoyable adventure. We also enjoy the expertise and valued perspective of local indigenous guides in key locations throughout the Kimberley and the Top End – adding a valuable cultural perspective to your outback adventure.

Our AccommodationThe style and standard of accommodation varies throughout our Tour Styles and itineraries. We view accommodation as part of the adventure so overnight arrangements on our Western Expeditions can include backpacker hostels, private safari camps, 'pitch your own tent' camps, 'swag it' bush camps and outback station stays. Locations are chosen for their proximity to local activities and highlights, their suitability to the Tour Style and the additional Aussie Outback experience they can offer our travellers.

Departure Guarantee Most of our extended tours are Guaranteed To Depart with a minimum of 2 travellers only so look out for the Departure Guaranteed tick! Note that there are some exceptions to the rule – such as seasonality – so check the Trip Facts for clarification.

A reasonable level of fitness and the ability to swim is necessary to participate fully in the itinerary.

1 DAY PINNACLES MAGIC

On this big day out from Perth we enjoy an introduction into Aboriginal history in Yanchep National Park, an area of great significance in both Aboriginal and modern Australian cultures. Taste traditional Bush Tucker for morning tea and have a crack at playing the didgeridoo!

Meet Native Australian wildlife in their natural environment: encounter kangaroos, koalas, birds and more. Then it is time for adventure as we hit the sand dunes of Lancelin for the thrill of sandboarding. After a picnic lunch on the beach we travel to Nambung National Park. Visit the local Discovery Centre then join a fully guided tour of the magical Pinnacles Desert. Learn how these surreal structures were created – both from a geological perspective and through the intriguing Aboriginal Dreamtime story. Return to Perth at approximately 7.00pm.

ClimateWhile Australia's south experiences four different seasons (sometimes all in one day!), the north has a Wet Season (Nov to Mar) and a Dry Season (Apr to Oct). During ‘the Wet’ many 4WD roads and National Parks are closed, which limits where you are able to go in the north. Our Kimberley tours only operate during 'the Dry', when it can get surprisingly cold overnight, depending on where you are – in Broome it can cool down to 12ºC, while in the Bungle Bungles, it can fall as low as 5ºC! On the West Coast temperatures can vary so it is best to be prepared for all likely weather: if you are travelling April to October, bring some winter woollies, while from November to March, you can expect warmer (sometimes balmy and hot) conditions.

ItinerariesThe itineraries in this brochure are valid for our peak season. However they are subject to change according to local environmental conditions. The itineraries may vary and/or attractions be substituted for any cause including seasonal conditions. Please also note that Australia is a big country and some long drives are all part of the adventure.

Private ChartersWild Expeditions operate independent charters on request, including trips tailored to Students, Charitable Organisations, Corporate Groups, Film Crews, and Special Interest Groups. While our tours involve camping, our quality vehicles enable us to host those groups looking for a little more comfort as we can make accommodation arrangements and activities with other operators. With our solid reputation, operational flexibility, and eco-friendly approach, Wild Expeditions are the Australian outback experts.

PricesTour prices in this brochure are per person and in Australian Dollars. Prices for tours with accommodation, are quoted on a twinshare basis. Single supplements will apply to upgrades.

DepartureMost of our Extended Tours are Guaranteed with only 2 travellers so look out for the Departure Guaranteed tick! Other tours depart subject to a minimum 6 travellers.

Travel InsuranceTravel insurance is essential. As we are travelling in a remote area, you should ensure you are covered for medical expenses including emergency repatriation at a minimum. We recommend that the policy also covers personal liability, curtailment and loss of luggage and personal effects. To ensure you are covered in the event of unseasonal weather and conditions that may cause road and national park closures, please make sure your policy considers costs incurred by any unforeseeable tour cancellations.

Protect the EnvironmentThe outback is a pristine wilderness and we are dedicated to preserving and caring for its fragile environment. We ask travellers to bring a long sleeve shirt and broad-brimmed hat to reduce the need for sunscreen and insect repellent, which leak into waterways when showering and swimming.
