In Year 11, students take six subjects at NCEA Level OneCompulsory: English, Mathematics, one Science or Technology

In Year 12, students take six subjects at NCEA Level TwoEnglish is compulsory

In 2020 we gained our best ever results, with pass rates of: 96% at Level 1 / 96% at Level 2 / 98% at Level 3

ICT for Learning

•All students in Years 9-12 are expected to bring an appropriate learning device (Full operating system > 10” screen)

Drama and Theatre ArtsSchool Production: Term 3, 27 - 31 July

• Auditions for all year levels will be in M4 in Week 3 and Week 4 of this term – look out for these in the Daily Notices

• Rehearsals (in Term 1 & 2, 2021) are on Tuesday 3.40-5.40pm and Wednesday 3.40 – 5.40pm, plus Sunday 2-5pm, at either WBHS or WGHS. Read the Daily Notices and/or check the Drama Notice Board for rehearsal times and venue

• Students need no prior drama knowledge

• Our last school production (the musical Les Misérables, in 2019) involved over 150 WB/GHS students and staff. This production won six iTicket and Auckland Live Showdown Awards, including Best Production in Auckland, Best Cast and also the People’s Choice Award

Theatresports at Westlake

• Every Tuesday lunchtime from Term 1 in M4 for social players, and Mondays after school 3.30 – 5.00 pm for competitiveplayers.

• All-comers welcome; no prior experience needed

• The competition team performs in the Auckland-wide Competition against other schools

• Involvement in a sport is a key way to make new friends, learn life skills and feel a sense of belonging.

•Our culture and values are of utmost importance, we want to develop better citizens through sport, not just medal winners

• In most sports we aim to cater to every level - beginners to elite

•House Events Term 1 –athletics (compulsory Y9’s), House swimming (non-compulsory), & cross country (compulsory Y9’s)

•Daily Notices need to be checked everyday and the School Websiteis a portal for information and registrations.

Academy of Sport (AOS)Curriculum-based sports development programme for those students displaying early ability in sport
