Weston had six electors (Think this means people eligible to vote in the village) Oct 21, 1843 Royal L'Spa Courier Joseph Purden was accused of stealing from Weston under Wetherley 1 gallon and a half of split beans, the property of William Harris his Master, sentenced to 6 months imprisonment in the house of correction and set to hard labour. Nov 1, 1845 Royal L'Spa Courier Notice given. Application to Parliament for making and maintaining a railway. Railway intended to be made and maintained from within the parish of Weston. Including compulsory purchase of land and property. See attached A Apr 5, 1850 Hereford Journal Reverend George Stable BA appointed to vicarage, vacant by the death of Rev Thos Warde May 11, 1850 Royal L'Spa Courier Thomas Connelly, John McDonought, Michael Kilgallan and John Kilgallan charged with assaulting Thomas Brennan at Weston. Brendan and John Kilgallan had been taken by mistake and therefore set at liberty. The complainant was knocked down and brutally ill treated by the defendants his statement corroborated by Jane Campbell the landlady of The Bull in at Weston, defendants fined 10 shillings six pence each including costs and allowed a week to pay the money Jul 8, 1850 Birmingham Gazette Rev George Stable took the oaths upon presentation to the vicarage of Weston under Wetherley. Children playing with Lucifer matches were responsible. Two Leamington gentlemen observed the manner in which a child was amusing himself with matches and commented that he would start a fire, just before it started. Jan 28, 1862 Royal L'Spa Courier Fracas in the hunting field. North Warwickshire hounds were in full cry near Weston Under Wetherley when a gentleman who had been staying at Leamington named Allcock road his horse towards a small enclosure belonging to Mr Thomas Campbell a farmer at Weston Under Wetherley leading his hack with intention of making a shortcut to the hounds. Mr Campbell stood with a warning attitude and asked Allcock to stop swearing and not ride over his grounds, Mr Allcock disregarded the command and jumped the fence with his horse Mr Campbell then held up a gun to bar the hunters progress over his land. A struggle took place and the gun exploded taking away a riding whip and Mr Campbell's coat. Mr Campbell took out a summons against him for striking him which was to be heard at the magistrates in Leamington but neither party appeared. Sep 17, 1863 Birmingham Daily Post Warwickshire agricultural society prizes for Devon cattle. First prize to A Umbers of Western Hall for the best Bull. Dec 4, 1863 Leicester Journal Birmingham and Midland counties agricultural show. Third prize to Mr F F Wells of Weston under Wetherley for pig breeding May 13, 1864 Coventry Herald Charlotte Walker was charged with stealing £6 and 10 shillings the property of Thomas Muddiman of Weston, the prisoner was remanded until the man she had robbed had recovered from the state of drunkenness in which he was found. Sep 3, 1864 Royal L'Spa Courier Absconding from the reformatory. Joseph Hobson brought into custody and charged with absconding before the term of his imprisonment had expired. Prisoner was apprehended the following day and handed over to the Warwickshire Constabulary. The Rev Sidney Turner her majesties inspector of reformatories visited the Warwickshire County reformatory at Weston, the reverend gentlemen examined the boys in the branches of knowledge in which they are instructed and made a satisfactory report. Currently 66 boys in the reformatory employed in agriculture and trades Aug 7, 1869 Royal L'Spa Courier Samual Anderton of Weston fined £10 and bound over to keep the peace for 6 months for fighting in Hunningham Sep 17, 1870 Oxford Journal Warwickshire agricultural society second place to Mr FF Wells of Weston under Wetherly for best breeding Sow with suckling piglets Mar 25, 1871 Royal L'Spa Courier Accidental shooting of a servant girl at Western Hall. An inquest was held at West Hall the residence of Mr E Umbers before Mr W S Poole coroner on view of the body of Ann Trottman 18 years of age accidentally shot the previous evening. Mr Thomas Umbers the son of Mr D Umbers explained to the jury how it happened. Upon taking the gun down off the beam it by some means slipped and the deceased thinking it was going to fall came and caught hold of it by the muscle when it accidentally went off lodging its contents in the girls forehead where her brains were knocked out onto the floor. John Eales innkeeper of the Bull public house was reported as being drunk and riotous in his own house and since this time the conduct of the house had not been good. John Eales was not present at the session and the licence not granted and was instructed to 'stand over' until Eales was present. Sep 10, 1881 Royal L'Spa Courier William Walters a farmer from Weston was charged with moving a cow and calf in an infected area without a movement license. Mr FF Wells appeared for the defendant explaining that Walters thought the movement restrictions had ceased, the bench was satisfied that Walters acted entirely in ignorance and dismissed the charge Sep 10, 1881 Royal L'Spa Courier Joseph Parsons, William Cyphus, John Green, George Hancock, Thomas Richardson and Brandon Needle all local labourers were charged with stealing mushrooms from the land of Mr F F Wells at Weston, the bench said they were determined to put a stop to this sort of thing and fined all various amounts between 5 and 15 shillings each plus damages Feb 25, 1882 Royal L'Spa Courier Local taxation the highway rate for Weston was set at 4 pence in the pound Sep 22, 1883 Worcester Journal Ordination at Worcester Cathedral of A P Dodd BA to Weston Oct 20, 1883 Royal L'Spa Courier Warwickshire reformatory report. 81 boys, 78 in school and 3 out on license. Nov 24, 1883 Royal L'Spa Courier Petty Sessions - Assault in Weston. Edward Muddiman of Weston charged with assaulting George Johnson of Cubbington. Defend pleaded not guilty but was fined 4s 16d. May 24, 1884 Royal L'Spa Courier Poor rate set at 6d in he pound Oct 4, 1884 Royal L'Spa Courier Petty Sessions - Five men, John Whitehead, James Green, Samual Judd, John Green and William Cyphus all labourers from Cubbington were charged with being drunk and disorderly in Weston, they had been drinking at the Red Lion in Hunningham. The landlady Mrs Bass was also charged with permitting drunkenness. All charges were dropped and Mrs Bass was told to be careful how she conducted her house. Dec 20, 1884 Royal L'Spa Courier Petty sessions - John Muddiman of Weston was charged with assaulting John Eales the inkeeper of the public house in Weston, he was also charge with being disorderly and refusing to quit the premises. He pleaded guilty and said he was drunk. He was committed to prison for three weeks for previous crimes and another three weeks for refusing to quit and fined 10d 19s, fine was paid. Dec 20, 1884 Royal L'Spa Courier Local taxation highway rates were allowed for Western of 9p and the poor rate of 4p in the pound Sep 5, 1885 Royal L'Spa Courier Interesting story about the highly esteemed Dr Preston who had links to King James I. Dr Preston who had a very fair inheritance from his ancestors at Heyford in Northamptonshire as well as living at the mansion house called Weston Manor at Weston under Wetherley where he frequently resided. Frederic Edwards, labourer and Matthew Edwards, labour both of Weston and Thos Heath, labourer from Cubbington we charged with wilful damage to property of Charles Hobbs innkeeper of a The Bull and using threatening and abusive language to him. Mr Wells a farmer from Hunningham acted as mediator. Bound over to keep the peace and a public expression of regret with court costs of 16s and charges were dropped. Oct 4, 1895 Coventry Herald Police Court. John Green labourer of weston charged with being drunk in the Lillington Road. Said sorry he had been drinking beer and whiskey, he was cautioned and charged 2s May 1, 1896 Coventry Herald 40th annual meeting of the supporters of the Warwickshire reformatory institution was held at the boys school at Weston. Currently there are 90 boys at the school 81 in the school and nine upon license during the years 1892 to 1894. 71 boys were discharged 63 of whom were doing well while only six had been convicted of crimes. Good practical skills were imparted in the workshops and excellent results were accomplished in the teaching in the school Jul 23, 1899 Coventry Herald Volunteer manoeuvers. On Saturday afternoon, 50 of the Leamington detachment of the second volunteer Battalion Royal Warwickshire Regiment under the command of Capt Kendall marched to weston and took part in a sham fight on the fields of Mr Wells. Oct 4, 1884 Royal L'Spa Courier Petty Sessions - Five men, John Whitehead, James Green, Samual Judd, John Green and William Cyphus all labourers from Cubbington were charged with being drunk and disorderly in Weston, they had been drinking at the Red Lion in Hunningham. The landlady Mrs Bass was also charged with permitting drunkenness. All charges were dropped and Mrs Bass was told to be careful how she conducted her house.

Dec 20, 1884 Royal L'Spa Courier Petty sessions - John Muddiman of Weston was charged with assaulting John Eales the inkeeper of the public house in Weston, he was also charge with being disorderly and refusing to quit the premises. He pleaded guilty and said he was drunk. He was committed to prison for three weeks for previous crimes and another three weeks for refusing to quit and fined 10d 19s, fine was paid.

Frederic Edwards, labourer and Matthew Edwards, labour both of Weston and Thos Heath, labourer from Cubbington we charged with wilful damage to property of Charles Hobbs innkeeper of a The Bull and using threatening and abusive language to him. Mr Wells a farmer from Hunningham acted as mediator. Bound over to keep the peace and a public expression of regret with court costs of 16s and charges were dropped.

May 1, 1896 Coventry Herald 40th annual meeting of the supporters of the Warwickshire reformatory institution was held at the boys school at Weston. Currently there are 90 boys at the school 81 in the school and nine upon license during the years 1892 to 1894. 71 boys were discharged 63 of whom were doing well while only six had been convicted of crimes. Good practical skills were imparted in the workshops and excellent results were accomplished in the teaching in the school
