The word ''textile'' originally applied only to woven fabrics, now generally applied to fibers, yarns, or fabrics or products made offers, yarns or fabrics textiles, especially fabrics the fundamental component of a ready made garment, because it is the basic raw material of a garment. Textiles means the whole process of making garments from fibres & sell or exports.

A technical textile is a textile that has been developed to meet the exacting specified high-performance requirements of a particular end-use other than conventional clothing and furnishings.

The textile used in technical sites can be noted as technical textile.

There are many types of technical textiles. they are:

Agriculture, Horticulture and Fishing.Construction-Building and Roofing.

Home Textiles.Medical and Hygiene Textiles.Geotextiles in Civil Engineering.Transportation Textiles.Protective and Safety Clothing and Textiles.

Textiles used in transport is known as transportation textiles.

Since plane or aircrafts are transport so textiles used in these transport called transportation textiles.

Since 1960, significant rise in the use of carbon fiber is noted.

By 2006, Boeing 787 consisted of 50 % by weight and 80 % by volume carbon fiber- that was a textile plane.

Carbon fiber was used as laminates for control surfaces, the flaps, spoilers, gear doors (main landing doors are larger than the wings in fighter planes- generally).

The interior of Boeing 747 400 was from carbon fiber, and there are 1200 flying today.

carbon fibre is used for making higher end tyres.

High tensile polyester is used for making air balloons.

Modern commercial aircrafts are made of fabric layers pasted with resin in a composite.

From pilot clothing to plane- would be anywhere

Textile furnishings, including seat covers, curtain fabrics, carpets, wallcoverings, blankets and headrest covers, are an important element of any aircraft interior.

They enable an airline to develop and reinforce its corporate identity and offer much greater scope for customisation than most other interior products.

Aircraft fabric covering is a term used for both the material used and the process of covering aircraft open structures. It is also used for reinforcing closed plywood structures, the de Havilland Mosquito being an example of this technique, and on the pioneering all-wood monocoque fuselages of certain World War I German aircraft like the LFG Roland C.II, in its wrapped Wickelrumpf plywood strip and fabric covering.

The purposes of the fabric covering of an aircraft are:

To provide a light airproof skin for lifting and control surfaces.

To provide structural strength to otherwise weak structures.

To cover other non-lifting parts of an aircraft to reduce drag, sometimes forming a fairing.

To protect the structure from the elements.

Traditional covering methods use organic materials, such as cotton. Once the aircraft structure is prepared by sanding the material is applied using dope as an adhesive.

Page 18: Wet Processing Technology-1 (Bangladesh University of Business & Technology-BUBT)

Modern covering methods follow the traditional method with minor differences. Synthetic materials are used, covering is adhered to the structure using dedicated glues.

The air wars of World War I were mainly fought with fabric-covered biplanes that were vulnerable to fire due to the flammable properties of the cloth covering and nitrocellulose dope

Page 20: Wet Processing Technology-1 (Bangladesh University of Business & Technology-BUBT)

Many transports, bombers and trainers still used fabric, although the flammable nitrate dope was replaced with butyrate dope instead, which burns less readily.

Aerospace can be aeronautics (flight science in Earth's atmosphere) and space flight (vehicle movement beyond the atmosphere).

It deals with flight, and the aerospace industry manufactures for things that fly. The jobs are done by team of specialized individuals.

Polymer matrix composites are high-tech materials made by embedding reinforcing fibers in a plastic matrix. Many modern military and commercial aircraft could not be manufactured without the use of composite materials.

Fiberglass is a polymer plastic reinforced with glass fibers. First developed in the 1920's, glass-fiber reinforced plastics soon found use in naval and aeronautics applications. The United States military adopted the use of fiberglass in an effort to develop stronger and lighter military aircraft.

The rising cost of oil is forcing airplane manufacturers to put more emphasis on reducing weight and making aircraft more fuel-efficient. One way this goal is being achieved is through the use of carbon fiber composites in the manufacture of aircraft.

Aramid fiber composites can be found in some of the world's largest aircraft. Aromatic polyamides are polymer fibers with molecules oriented along the fiber axis. This exploits the chemical bonding between the molecules to make the resultant material extremely strong and light weight.

Aircraft textiles are mainly build to safe guard the life of an aero space/plane traveller. Protecting the human body from a disaster or from the high rays in the upper layer of the atmosphere & space, which are threat for life of human, is the ultimate aim of aircraft textiles. The development of space and aircraft textiles is a great boon to the present-day textile industry. At present, these kinds of textiles are making a significant contribution to the increasing market for textiles. There is scope for lot of research on aircraft textiles and also for horizontal and vertical growth in aircraft textiles to save the life.
